in the orgo sectioon in test 1 the question asks which molecule will give 2 singlets

the answer given was ( sorry i cant figure out the name right now ) CH3-O- phenyl- O- CH3

but then i dont understand why this molecule that was given as one of the answer choices cant be the right answer.... CH3-CO-CH3

The answer is right..
CH3-CO-CH3 = you have same kind of protons on the 2 methyl groups, that's why they only give you 1 singlet..

The other one gives you 1 singlet for 2 CH3 groups (same environment); 1 singlet for all the H's on the phenyl group..

HOpe that makes sense but draw the structure out and have a look at it.
