Mistake on essay! already processed!

Make correction if it is being asked during the interview(s).

Ah i just realized I made a really stupid mistake in my AMCAS personal statement! I said I did a procedure during research that I never actually did - I was just careless and called it the wrong thing. The procedure I said I did doesnt even make sense in the context of my research!

How likely is it that an interviewer will bring this up? Do I just explain the error if they ask? Do I correct myself in the secondaries, or is that overkill?

I wouldn't worry about it. There is nothing you can do now. I would only address it if it comes up. Otherwise, you'll just bring unnecessary negative attention onto your application.

try finding the opportunity to actually do the procedure before interview season

Just roll with it. Tons of people exaggerate. I think you'll find there are lots of numbers fudging and experience exaggeration going on in applications to med school. I am not saying it is right, but it definitely happens.

I agree with this.
