I read somewhere that mitochondria are completely independent. I read that it somehow makes its own membrane? Is this true?

Thanks

Think about the endosymbiont theory.

That is a good way to think about it and that would mean that each membrane is a bilayer.
But the reason I ask is what allows for the creation of the lipid bilayer?
Are there proteins in the cytoplasm making the lipids?

New question: How do bacteria make their membrane?
A bacteria's electron transport chain is located in its
membrane?

Thanks

Your second question is one of my questions as well. I read somewhere that cellular respiration in prok. occurs in cell membrane!! But does this make sence though?😕
