My alma mater does not provide mock interviews. Does anybody have any experiences with BeMo, crackingadmissions, etc mock interview services? They're a little bit pricey.

It is not cheap, but I started with them for the Casper, and since I do have II's from Casper schools, im gonna guess that it worked
I have no experience with these services, but I would caution against assuming that your II's were because of their services. For all we know, you may have gotten the same (or more) II's without them.

Many advisers and consultants have made their living by giving the perception of value without necessarily having the results to back it up. Financial advisers come to mind.

This depends on your own ability to answer questions and interview. Many students are able to interview without doing a mock interview first (and really, if you never do a mock interview, then your first interview will act as one). There are tons of guides out there, either free through a Google search or as books you can easily buy on Amazon. If you're really worried, read up on interview tips and practice answering the classic interview questions in front of a mirror. These include
  • Why medicine?
  • Why our school?
  • Tell me about yourself.
Obviously you're going to be asked many other questions, but those 3 are quintessential.

Good luck!

BeMo is really great. It is not cheap, but I started with them for the Casper, and since I do have II's from Casper schools, im gonna guess that it worked (you never get your score, explicitly). So now I am using them for MMI and interview prep, and I have really enjoyed it. Their one-on-one prep has been helpful.

I don't have experience with either but my friends used them as well and they were happy. They also do seem to have results on their sites. I would suggest you review at your discretion and make your decision based on your own personal needs. The problem with the forum is that you're going to hear people giving you their own opinions (usually without any experience.) I would cation against getting advice from people on here who are all anonymous users...

It is a paid service just like anything else in a capitalist society. Why should anyone provide their services for free. you're going to med school to make a living as well. People argue the same thing about doctors and lawyers being paid consultants who do not always produce results for their clients and they also get paid to provide mentorship and advice largely (unless they are hired for a procedure, which sometimes results in death).

Good luck on your interviews!!

I would just like to point out the irony of this word of caution. 😉

i haven't used BeMo yet but my friend's using them right now and she really likes it! if you think of it as an investment and what you're getting out of it it's not pricey
