I'm interviewing at Mount Sinai in a week, and I was wondering what the interview and interview day are like. Who did you interview with? Was it one on one? Any canned or tough questions? What did you think? Thanks!

Anyone get any NEW interview invites to Sinai recently?

Also, Spire, when were you complete, if you don't mind me asking.

Let me refer you to an old post of mine:

The interviews are really relaxed but a bit fast. I didn't get any hard questions. In fact I think they only asked me about 4 questions each because we spent most of the time getting into a conversation on each. All the interviewers seem extremely nice. Both my interviewers appeared to be very enthusiastic about teaching at Mt. Sinai and about the students. It will be one on one, 30 minutes each. Mt Sinai is absolutely great.

I interviewed last week and I thought it was great. Stay with a student if you can so you get a chance to see the dorm (it's extremely cheap for upper East Side and thus a big selling point).

The day is very low key. It's a small group (we had 8). The dean is from Queens and absolutely hysterical. He was by far the most entertaining part of the day. They do a nice presentation and then you have two one-on-one interviews. My interviewers were great. One asked a lot of specifics about my application while the other just chatted with me for a while. They were very nice and had great things to say about Sinai. After interviews you get two tours (which looking back is a brilliant idea). The first tour is by M1/M2's and they take you to lounges, and lunch, and the anatomy lab (which overlooks central park by the way), and the dorms, so you can see the student perspective. The second tour is by an M4 so you can see clinical facilities including hospitals, etc.

All and all laid back and relaxing. No big surprises. Good luck!!!

(in case you are curious, and because I know somebody will ask, I was complete in September, invited in October, for an inteview scheduled last week)

Thanks everyone! I was complete in August, interview invite in early October for interview on February 5. I'm definitely looking forward to it. I live in Manhattan, so I think it would be a little weird to stay with a student...but I would like to check out the living situation. What did you guys think of the dorms?

Superhiro, thanks also for the tips on your previous post.

"dorms" is a frightfully inaccurate way of referring to the apartments that sinai gives its students in Aron Hall. second to none, if you ask me.

Yeah, I've heard the apartments in Aron Hall are nice. Do most students live there?

I received one on Monday for March 7

I was complete in late Nov

We had a small group and all interviewed with the same two people (basically rotated through). Both interviewers were nice, but one was definitely the push you to see if you crack, crumble or get defensive type. I just kept my cool & tried to relax. GL ALL!
