I have a mount sinai interview scheduled in December but have already been accepted to two schools that I really like. Does anyone have a compelling reason for why I should go on the Mount Sinai Interview? Thanks!

Would anyone pick Sinai over Michigan? I'm in at Michigan and have interviewed at Columbia and Cornell but won't find out about those till March. My significant other works in NYC which of course is an important detail [he does have enough flexibility where has prospects in Detroit or Chicago and other cities but still], but I'm also in at my NJ state schools. I figure if I am gonna go all out for tuition it should be for really strong school a la top 10, cuz if not I will go to my state schools which are close enough to NYC.
My Sinai interview was supposed to be early November but I rescheduled it for January cuz some other stuff came up. I've heard the "Sinai was in bankruptcy stuff" ad nauseum... but I don't think that's the case anymore?
So I guess another question is would anyone pick their state school [say your state school is decent, but no Baylor or UCSF] over Sinai?

Wow, You brought up some good points Kashue. Thanks for letting me know about NYU and Sinai's average debt....I think my state schools are actually more than that! I guess I assumed it'd be cheaper no matter what to go to my state school. Then it is definitely worth going on the Sinai interview if this is the case w/ the financial aid.
thanks! 🙂 good luck to you

I am starting work at Mount Sinai on Monday, and if you guys want I will provide you with more details on teh school later. My impression was, though, that the people are extremely nice.
In terms of the med school, how long did it take until you heard from Mount Sinai regarding an interview? I have been waiting for a month or so. I called and they said taht I am complete, but I have not yet received a formal aknowledgement. Waiting for interviews kills me-- the interviews I have gotten so far were within 2 weeks of the completion of my application...

Yeah, I have to agree that at the interview, it seemed that MSSM's financial aid was quite hearty.

My invite took a bit more than 2 months since my app was complete. Don't worry....they may take longer for whatever reason. I don't think it's a matter of how strong your app is. I think my app is pretty decent, and I had already interviewed at 9 places before hearing from them. I do know that they're booked until beginning of February, but interview well into the spring. So just sit tight....the invite will come pretty soon. Good luck in your new job!

hey guys,
about the financial aid offered at SUNY stony brook and MSSM, i was also really impressed how MSSM's indebtedness is so low.
i was telling my friend about it, and she said that most people who choose to go to private schools are ones whose parents have higher income so they have higher family contributions, which leads to lower debt for them.
i would have thought that the breakdown would be almost the same at most schools. what do u guys think?
