I have an interview at Mount Sinai on Thursday and I am driving up from Baltimore to New York on Wednesday afternoon. Are there any recommendations as to which route to take into the city and where to park (I am staying with a student host).

expect to pay 30 bucks a day or (much) more to park in the city. Take 95 all the way to the NJ turnpike, which will dump you off at one of the tunnels. Add 6 bucks for tunnel toll, plus NJ turnpike toll, Delaware bridge toll, baltimore I95 tolls,... might as well take a train and take it easy.

Would it really be cheaper to take a train? I was under the impression that a round trip train ticket would run somewhere around $100. I was able to find a garage that would run about $28 through iconparking.com for the garage on 95th street between 3rd and Lexington (I think that is the closest garage). Would it still be easier/cheaper to take a train in.

I debated the same thing as you going up from DC.

Honestly that trip up is no fun. On the train you can relax and sleep. You dont have to worry about driving, traffic, tolls, DRIVING IN THE CITY, etc. The train takes about 2.5 hours or so from bmore. Driving will take you 3-5 or more depending on traffic. The train dumps you right in the middle of manhattan. Personally i think its worth it for the train. It should be around 130-160 r/t

If you throw in gas, tolls, parking, that probably adds up to a good 70-80 bucks? I guess the question really is how much is time and comfort worth to you?
