This guy is awesome.

Free solo (no ropes, no protection) rock climbing of Half Dome at Yosemite, among other climbs.

Check this video out if you have some free time...

Pretty impressive, but I am not nearly as impressed as that reporter. She can't begin to hide how excited she gets over this guy...

Google tells me the Phoenix goes at 5.13a, in a place known for stiff grades. That's some crazy sh*z of a solo to be doing the day before Chouinard-Herber. . .

That's pretty incredible. I wonder how soon he'll retire or die.

Dude actually lives in a van by the river ... 🙂

Some people don't need much to be happy.

There are 2 types of climbers... old climbers and bold climbers.

+1 for the SNL Chris Farley tie in.

This guy is not set up for longevity. He's amazing, but that kind of habit is going to kill him.

Did u see the veins on this guys forearm?

I bet you could fit like 5 Ric's in his right arm alone.

Dude is crazy... and awesome at the same time.

What's really bizarre is how my favorite free climber, Michael Reardon, died of a rogue wave taking him out to sea. Broke my heart, too, to hear Todd Skinner's harness snapped.

It's hands down the best, most challenging/social/exciting/relaxing sport out there and I still climb, still have have a number of friends living in vans but I'm much less bold than when I started. I've had two holds break in my hand while free soloing and more than that on lead on sparse gear. After going through medical school and seeing chronic pain, and debilitation from just a busted knee, or hip, yeah, I take it easy.
