I am currently in Chicago and applied to MPH programs at UCLA, NYC (Columbia and Wagner), Harvard (SM2), and Yale.
I applied to health policy & management concentrations as a full time student. How often do students in the above programs work part time or full time or even at all? For example I know working at Hopkins during the MHA program is probably not doable, but what about the others?
I am a respiratory therapist and if I'm not offered a research/graduate assistant position I was thinking about working on a casual/part time basis to pay some bills. Which also brings up the fact that I'd have to find an employer before school starts and complete hospital/department orientation which typically lasts anywhere from 3wks to 3 months.
I have a crazy roommate and I feel like I really need my own place again. I found some apartments with short leases and found one that ends 7/31 or 8/31, my preference.
Should I just put up with the craziness, since I don't have a contract with my roommate (just month to month), and wait until I hear back from programs? The benefit of this would be not having to pay a deposit and the ability to move in June, July or August depending on where (if) I get accepted. Or I could just the move out and take the lease that ends on July 31st (for an extra $50/mo). That would still give me a month before classes start. Cost isn't an issue because I'm not saving money with the roommate.
Any feedback is welcome.
