MSU-COM Discussion Thread 2012-2013

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Yup the same thing happened to me as well. But I was complete in nov though.
I still didn't get the complete email from MSU for this year but my status says that they have received everything.
Did any1 else submit everything and not receive a complete email from MSU?

I got a complete email right away. Maybe call them tomorrow and make sure everything is in order?

I was complete a month ago. I hope everything is in order. I just checked again and everything is "Y" plus mcat received so idk why I didn't receive one.

I got the complete email pretty quickly after they received my MCAT score. Although I get a feeling that they received everything a few days beforehand, but just didn't process them. It's not gonna matter how quickly my app is complete if my stats aren't good 🙁

That's the problem. I don't want to call them and ask them why they haven't processed my application yet. Idk I'll call them tomorrow but I don't want to be rude lol

Best admissions secretary on earth. I called and she was so polite and professional. Thank u guys for telling me to call. Hopefully we get word sept 5 lol

Seconday received 7/12
LORs marked received 7/22
Mailed seconday 8/6
Complete email 8/14 !

Is there a link to the evaluation form or do they attach in the secondary email (if so, can someone send it me pretty please)? I've been searching the MSU website and can't find it anywhere. My AACOMAS isn't verified so I haven't gotten a secondary yet but I'm going on vacation soon and wanted to give my eval writers a chance to start the form now since I won't be around....thanks!

COMPLETE!!!! God, I was scared for a bit I would have to find someone new to write my reference letter. Let the waiting begin....

Welcome to the club! 👍 3 weeks and counting... :scared:

I have an important question. I read somewhere online that the Canadian scholarship only goes to those "in good academic standing". What do they mean? Do we need a 4.0 to keep the scholarship or is it GUARANTEED every year? I will ONLY go to this school if I am guaranteed it every year and don't have to worry about not getting a 4.0.

I know this isn't WAMC, but this is the one school I am hoping to go to as an instate resident... sooo WAMC? <-- MDapps

Good luck to those of you who are already complete, it should pay off big time early in the cycle.

You should be okay barring any red flags on your app.

Hi Guys,
I am still not verified (submitted AACOMAS late July), but I was thinking, if someone would be that nice and send me a link to the evaluation form please? I would like to have them ready first thing after my secondary release.
Thank You very much.

Good luck everyone! Last application cycle I was high-waitlisted and accepted a day before the cycle ended so I deferred to C/O 2017! We could be classmates!!

Was it easy for you to get a deferment from MSU? I am OOS and I definitely cannot afford the $80K a year price tab. But if somehow I can defer for a year to earn in-state status, that would be awesome since MSU is my top choice. I am just wondering how feasible that is or if is near impossible to defer...

It's really simple! All you have to do is email them and ask for a deferment. I just gave them my reason that it was just too short of notice and I also still had to finish some pre-reqs. I think a lot of people probably defer like me. Especially those on the high waitlist/waitlist who already had a job lined up for the year or an apartment lease they couldn't get out of. They will just send back a confirmation email letting you know that they'll contact you again in september of 2013 to ask of your intentions to attend or not.

10 more days. Man I better get accepted for starting this 10 day count down lol. I have no life 😉

+1. I hope I am in the first batch of acceptances...will def help relieve stress of other interviews

Does anyone know how many they get through in a day? My secondary was complete on July 26th.

The waiting game is. KILLING. ME.

Same here, I was complete on July 24th 🙁

I heard they go through the "top 50" in a day - this could just be a rumor, but I guess I'll spread it 😛

6 more days...I was complete 08/15 so I doubt I'd be in the 1st batch.

I wonder how many apps were received in the first month...?

Someone said 600 earlier in this thread. I think they were talking about primary applications in the first few days. Idk but I have a feeling 2012 will have a crazy amount of applicants. I do believe the earliest applicants with high Mcats will definitely be in the first batch. Too bad I'm neither one of those lol

Not necessarily. They value GPA and volunteering pretty highly.

I have a question for everyone that has submitted their secondary. I am really struggling with writer's block for a good story to write about for the essay, mostly because the stuff I wrote about in my PS is basically what this secondary is asking for. Too bad I can't just use that....

The essay has the background paragraph before the prompt that talks a bit about what sort of skills a DO would need. Here's the question: Did you guys write the essay based on the context of the background that was given (e.g. skills = empathy, listening, touch, etc.) OR do you think the background was there just to kind of give people an idea of what it means to be a DO and you could relate a ton of other skills that weren't mentioned?

Thanks for any input.

I was referring to only the first week. That's it. Or the rest I completely agree with you. I guess we'll only know in 1 more week.

I don't know if you consider a 31 MCAT high but that's what I had and I applied as early as I could and didn't get in until November.

31 is extremely high lol. But did you apply June 1st for the primary and sent the secondary back ASAP. I was referring to those people. Not to the ones that were complete late July or early August like the majority of the people in this thread.

I applied day one and got it out as soon as I could. I don't remember when I was complete though. I'm just saying a high MCAT doesn't always matter!

Now your scaring me. That's crazy. Well at least u got accepted. It doesn't matter when and hopefully I would have the chance to follow your footsteps lol

Haha try not to worry too much. It's a long process. Whether you are accepted on the first Wednesday or the last it's still an acceptance! It is nice to know sooner rather than later though.

Man! I am getting pretty anxious here :xf::xf::xf::xf::xf: Good luck everyone! 6 sleeps to go...

Thanks in advance

ouch it hurts so bad ...

Eligible students must be US citizens or permanent residents who anticipate graduating with a bachelor's degree in the biological or physical sciences in the academic year following the summer of planned participation.
