Can anyone from MSUCHM or anyone that knows anything about it tell me more than what is on their website?

I hear it is a 13 month long program where you pretty much retake all your prereqs, is this true?

Any specifics would be great!

Here is the link to the information: http://mdadmissions.msu.edu/main/able.htm

After reading through this info it doesnt sound as bad as I initially thought. A guaranteed admission a year from now sounds a lot better than re-applying a year from now. Although I suspect one can re-apply (to other schools) as well as attend the ABLE program. I'm already gearing up to re-take the MCAT in April. If I dont get in anywhere this round and get the ABLE I wont feel too bad. Besides coming from a non-natural science background (Engineering), a chance to take upper level medical science classes prior to med school wont be bad at all. I'm not so much as worry about how long its gonna take (5 years) instead of 4, as to how well prepared I am to tackle med school courses. Thats the advantage applicants with a degree in biological science have over the rest.

If you already have a degree in biological science and get the ABLE then yes it is basically a re-hash of your degree. But if natural science was not your major, then I feel it would be new to you. For me upper level biology, neuroscience, genetics, biochemistry etc will definitely all be new.
My preference would be the main admission for fall 2006 but if it ends up being ABLE then I wont curse them out as I initially planned. 😀

Anyway good luck to you
