Just resuscitating the thread before it dies.
I emailed to let them know one of my evaluations might be a few days late, just as a courtesy...they gave me an extra month extension (even though I technically didnt ask for one), and they were all there and my file was complete the day after my completion deadline. They are super cool in the admissions office over there!
Anybody see the show Chuck last night.... hehehehe funny stuff. That blonde chick is hot hot hot...
congrats on the CCOM invite speete, that school and PCOM are the only ones I would pick over MSUCOM.
Thanks! What is it that you like about CCOM over MSUCOM?
The proximity to Chicago simply means expensive housing to me. If there was a medical school in the U.P. I would be there. I love the outdoors and nature way more than the city.Great rotation sites, its close to Chicago, it has a very high match rate. I just want a change of atmosphere from MSU, mainly.

Yeah I got in...😀
i'm in~~ withdrawing from all other schools (even MD's!!)
3.5 overall 3.6 science 31mcat
complete just over a week ago
I have a feeling that the class of 2012 is going to have a higher MCAT average than previous classes. Wasn't the average like 26 last year? MSUCOM has become the top choice for lots of students that could go MD if they wished to.
Good for you, may I ask why such a strong desire towards MSUCOM over other schools including MD?
is it true that classes begin in the summer? I read on AACOM website that classes begin early. Anyone know more about this? MSUCOM is one of my top choices.
PS I will apply to MSUCOM for next year. No i havent submitted yet.
Mine was 9 pages, at 10pt font, using their format. There is a lot of time to cover from high school to the beginning of your graduate career, this should be pretty lengthy. Try to show that you are well rounded in your abilities and activities. Good Luck.😀Quick question:
How many pages were your Records of Nonacademic Experiences? I'm slightly concerned mine is too many pages.
thanks...and hopefully will be joining the cool admitted club soon 🙂

Why such a strong preference towards MSUCOM?
It came down to the fact that the DO I shadowed, and developed a VERY strong relationship with offered to pay for my Medical Education, with the agreement that I attend MSUCOM (his alma mater)
This doesn't bother me one bit as I plan on doing a FP/EM career as it is~~~Not to mention MSUCOM was my first choice in school largely do to their rankings and the type of student body they generally attract

Hey
The other parts of my application are really strong. I am older, 26 and in state. I've been working as paramedic for 4 years now, as a critical care paramedic on a mobile intensive care unit for 3 years. I manage two clinical research trials. I've held a part time job in a neurolab as a research technician and had 2 publications from that so far. My volunteer and extracurricular stuff was long 12 pages, my essay was pretty good . . .
I got my secondary from MSU on 8/2 it was complete with letters on 9/19 (one letter took a while - he was out of the country). I know my letters are really good, one is from our medical director (D.O alum of MSU) for my company, he is also the one in charge of those clinical trials I am managing. The other was from a PhD with whom I did that neuro research.
How long do I wait before I get really nervous? I see that lots of people are already getting accepted without interviews and accepted quickly. What is the average time?
Thanks!
I only had 3 pages. I had about 4 good experiences in each of their categories. No need to bore them to death.
For the activities, I just listed my major ones for each category. I think mine was 3 or 4 pages as well, I think listing every benefit walk you have ever donated to or some other equivalent example is a bit more than what they expect from you....I think they appreciate the variety of types of experiences rather than just how many EC's you could cram into your life!
I'm willing to bet that they don't read the details. I was given the impression that a long history of a lot of extra activities and service is what they are looking for. I was specifically told to go back to the beginning of High School and include every HOUR of service. That the 4th factor that goes into the algorthythm to determine who gets to committe.
