I thought one of the deans mentioned this on interview day but I don't remember now, so I'll ask you guys - does Sinai give out any merit-based scholarships?
 
does anyone know if we have to turn in any financial aid forms besides the FAFSA? I don't remember seeing any financial aid forms in their admission packet.
 
you need to complete the needaccess online....and then complete the sinai financial aid application (4pages) and send it with copies of your tax returns
 
Anyone have a link for MSSM's 2007 match list?
 
FYI I contacted Jessica Maysonet and requested that the powerpoint presentation given to us on interview today be uploaded to the enrollment site. It's up! It has some useful info such as board scores, class stats, pretty pictures etc.

I think they said May 1st for need based aid applications (but don't hold me to that date) -- I just finished the needaccess stuff this week and sent in all the rest of my forms. I know that during interview day they stressed getting everything in as early as possible if you want to hear back from them before May 15th.

On a different note, I really hope they send out more detailed info about 2nd look soon! It's been awhile since I've heard anything from them -- MSSM, where are you???
 
I'm interested in the match list, too. Anyone know if this is floating around out there?
 
yeah, i would really like more info on the second look weekend too. as far as match list goes, i have a friend at sinai who's a 4th year who gave me the match list for 2007. looks good! if i get bored enough at work tomorrow, i'll type it up...but i've just got a paper copy for now. don't know if it exists online somewhere.

hello -- i want to go into radiology and was hoping you would be able to at least list where people in radiology are going from mssm, if you didn't have the time to list the entire match list. appreciate it! see you all at the second look weekend!

Are you guys including your parents' information on FAFSA? I assume Mount Sinai requires parental information but do we have to include this on FAFSA or can we just include it on the needaccess or MSSM forms?

Looks pretty impressive to me (not that I know anything about reading match lists other than that I recognize many of the names listed, lol)
Anyone else know more definitively if this is a competitive match list or not?
Regardless, I'm probably not going to put much stake in the match lists just because I figure that the majority of what determines where you match comes down to what you accomplish during medical school as opposed to where you attend medical school (although, of course, a well-known school can only be a positive on your applications...)

people, we need some more enthusiasm on this thread. mount sinai is going to be AMAZING. seriously. our anatomy labs have views of the nyc skyline over the reservoir. and such a diverse class, a great global health program... what did you all like about it?

Do we want to meet somewhere in the MSSM hood? Where are non-New Yorkers staying? I live in the UES and work at Sinai, so I could suggest some places near campus if that's what we want to do.

and of course, next thing you know, they emailed the info for second look. Looking at the sched. I think thurs. night is the best time for the meet up. If we were to do it in the sinai 'hood...whats around there? SpiresAAC any specific suggestions?
 
Hey guys. I have a question and i'm wondering if anyone else is in the same boat or has any input. I just got the email inviting me to second look weekend (4/13, right?). 😛 But here's the thing, I interviewed very late in the season (as in, earllier this month) and haven't yet heard back from Mt. Sinai regarding a decision. 😕 Do you think an invite to 2nd look is indication of a positive decision? Dare I call and ask?? I fear the dreaded "What? Hmmm... Lemme check.... Oh wait, that was a mistake. We're very sorry but at this time you have not been accepted/been waitlisted." Yeah, that would be unpleasant..... :scared:

What do you guys think? Any feedback/opinions would be welcome. Thanks!
 
I think thats a good sign. I would make the call even though my heart would start racing :scared:

There are actually 2 revisit weekends, the one on the 13th-14th is for underrepresented minorities, and the one on the 27th-28th is for everyone.
 
Just emailed them saying I'll def be there on the 27th...cant wait!
 
I can't make it to the April 27-28 second look weekend as the 27 is my last day of work here in France and I also have an event at my work the night of the 27th. Should I consider asking if I could attend the 13-14th second look weekend even though I'm not an underrepresented minority? No? 🙂

Hey everyone...just thought i'd share my excitement for being accepted into Mount Sinai! Also, I am going to the UM Revisit weekend on April 13 and 14th and was wondering if anyone else here was going to that one. I will be staying from the 14th to the 15th as well, so if anyone wants to explore NYC with me that night that would be excellent!

I was accepted a few weeks ago and am also attending Second Look. I'm trying to make the difficult decision between Pitt, Vandy, and Sinai, and Sinai's location in NYC isn't helping =). I really like Vandy, but I'm not so sure about Nashville. See you guys during Second Look!

P.S. If anyone is staying at a hotel, I stayed at the Hotel Franklin for my interview, and it's very nice for the price and location. I would go there! I'm staying there this time around too. =)

1) Anyone heard back from Jessica about second look after RSVPing? Need to find out about student host asap!

2) Lets finalize some plans for Thurs. night pre secondary weekend for anyone interested. Lets do something close to Sinai, I'm thinking some kind of lounge/bar laid back kind of atmosphere....up for anything though. 😀

I'm actually currently on the waitlist and am really hoping to be able to go to school at Mount Sinai. I figured that this might be a good place to ask this question. Do y'll know when first year students generally move into Aron Hall? I know that orientation starts on August 16 and was curious about how much earlier than this date we would be allowed/expected to move in. Thanks!
