Has anyone who called Sinai for a status check heard anything other than "your file is complete and under review?" I figure they'd email you if you've been selected for an interview, so do they tell you specifics about your application having been reviewed, on hold, favorably reviewed etc...?

:luck:

i think that you will just have to wait....
I heard back after 3-4 wks..

this is what happened to me, might give you a sense of their turnover time:

rec'd secondary 7/11
submitted sec 7/15
app complete 7/18
e-mailed with interview offer 8/25
interview scheduled 11/1

in the interview e-mail, they basically tell you when you're going to interview.

"We hope it will be convenient for you to join us on Wednesday, November 1, 2006."

i'm a reapplicant (applied for 2005), and last time i did not get an interview offer. as i recall, i was in limbo for weeks/months with no news.

Hi I just called this afternoon, they were extremely nice. They said my file was complete on August 23rd, and they just recieved the August MCAT scores, and that it should be 3-4 weeks until I hear anything (i.e. interview, or most likely post secondary rejection).

I've also been told that if you took the August MCAT and notified them that you want them to take a look at the score before they review your file the earliest possible interview is late december early january (I'm thinking definately after new years). Probably even into february and march.

Hope this helps.

If you want to call to check your status make sure its Monday or Wednesday btw 2-4 PM EST. (thats when they do status checks)

thanks a lot, i appreciate it guys! and :luck: to you hopefully we'll hear soon!

Does anyone have any idea what is happening with Mount Sinai? I've heard nothing from them since August 25th when I got a complete email---should I give them a call? Perhaps they just decided not to interview me but I don't even know what date they are up to for interviews.

all i can say is...WOW. why do you care? i read your mdapplicants profile - you've got interviews at some pretty amazing places.

it's a stochastic process. i know someone at Harvard medical school who was rejected by Univ of Chicago post-interview. so if you haven't gotten a Mount Sinai interview yet, don't sweat it.

you can read my timeline for Mount Sinai above - i can only guess that as of today, they've now booked interviewees through November, maybe even December.

again, though...considering your other interview offers, why do you care?

Ive heard that sinai focuses mostly on the science scores of the mcat, is that true?

seriously, what's one more safety?

Mt. Sinai is definitely NOT a safety school. They're one of the most selective and desired med schools. I'd give at least two of my digits to get in there (excluding thumbs, index fingers, and big toes).

therein lies the jest. her stats (and record so far) are so good, it makes mt. sinai look like a safety for her.

has anyone interviewed there already? I don't see any uploaded interview feedback for this year yet, and I wanna know!!

Well, as an above poster commented, Mt Sinai's a pretty amazing school, and since I have yet to actually be accepted anywhere, nowhere on my list is a "safety" in my mind🙂 But I am very thankful of the interviews I do have and didn't mean to sound like I wasn't....
