When I took the MCAT in 1999 I got a 5v, 7p, 9b. When I took it this past April I got a 7v, 10p, 10b. Well I was really determined on getting that score up so I took the test again in August. My plan backfired, I was too nervous and anxious and my scores went down to a 5v, p9, b9. Now what should I do? I applied to a lot of schools, both DO and MD. I have an MS, biology with a 3.7 GPA. I've had two interviews already. One DO and one MD school. But I feel like I might have screwed myself. I don't want to give up and I'm determined to take the MCAT again this april if I don't get in anywhere. If anyone has some advice or inspirational stories, please share them. I've worked extremely hard the past three years holding a full time job, going to grad school and studing for the MCAT. What else should I do?

If I were you I wouldn't waste my time taking the test again. It wont help you much at this point, even if you improve to say 30 composite. Sell your app as best you can and hope for the best. If you do not get in this year, strengthen your non-MCAT credentials to the extent that you can and apply again next year. Not much else I can say...

I'd ride this application cycle out and see what happens. As jargon said, sell yourself on secondaries and interviews. If you don't get in this time around, however, and if you are still intent on going to medical school, I would take it yet again. You've already taken it 3 times and your score can only get better. And if it gets worse, you are not in a much more disadvantageous position than you are now. At this point, you might as well go down with a bloody fight - you just might end up surprising yourself!
