Both Barrons' and Cliffs gives example for codominance as (M, N, MN blood types) and for multiple alleles (A,B, AB, O blood types)
I am having trouble understanding the difference between the two. In both it is the molecules that are on the surface of the RBCs that are responsible for this. But what is the difference?
Barron's gives a definition for codominance as 'both traits show' and for multiple alleles as 'there are more than 2 allelic forms of a gene'
So this is how I understand what the difference in: 1) in case of codominance= there are only 2 types of allelic forms of a gene which are M and N 2) in case of multiple alleles=there are more than 2 types of allelic forms (A, B and O)
Am I understanding this correctly?
Also, can someone explain to me the difference between MN blood groups and A/B/AB/O ones?
