Hello all,
I have a question regarding multiple MCAT scores. If a student takes the MCAT the first time and gets a 10 12 10 and takes it a second time to get a 12 10 12 , are there med schools that look at it as a 12 12 12? basically taking the best split among all the sections?
If there are schools that do this, could you specifically tell me their names?

The reason I ask is, practically everywhere I look for info, all I see is "some schools take the best score, some the most recent....etc" but nowhere am I able to find SPECIFICALLY which school does which.

Thank you

P.S. Dr. Chiquita, I read your posts regarding this and am glad to have your input that MCW and Tufts do this. Thank You for that :)
Are there any other schools that do this?

He's considering. I'm also considering recommending retaking, just because I want to see someone do considerably worse the second time.

something I hope others have an actual answer to.....

I am curious about this as well. I took the MCAT twice and would love to know which schools take the highest, which take the most recent, which average etc. I understand if this information is simply not available, but if anyone has knowledge of how specific schools do things, I greatly appreciate it.

I retook with a 32...I knew I could do better and I actually did!

Anyways, to answer your question, I think only like 2 schools do this and the only one that comes to mind is Tufts. Just consider your score a 33.

Actually its more than 2 - Tufts, MCW, U of Wisconsin, albany......I was wondering if anyone knows of other schools that do this.

How would anyone know this? Does the school website say this or is it online or something?

Well, one source I saw was the Princeton Review Book. Dr.Chiquita suggested it (thanks for that :) ), but theres some confusion in it. At times, they say best score (singular) and at others - best scores(plural). I am of the opinion they mean the same thing but am not completely positive.

'Cuz for some ppl, this could mean the difference b/w retaking it a 3rd time or not.

P.S. NO, I am NOT gonna retake it, so pls dont say "I am a glutton for punishment"....but I do have friends who are going crazy trying to decide and this could help.

I'm just shocked that you sat for it again with nothing below a 10.

When did I say I got "nothing below a 10"? Heck, I didn't even mention my most recent split...

Once again, (if this concept is lost on some ppl), the op is a HYPOTHETICAL problem. I asked because I have friends who def will not have to retake the aug mcat if the best score in each section is indeed accepted at some schools.

So does anyone know of other schools that do this?

Thanks

P.S. Once again, just to repeat, the OP has NOTHING to do with MY own scores.

Drexel definitely does not add up the total score. However, if you did poorly in one section, say a 6 or a 7 and on the second exam you busted some butt preparing for it, and upped it, then they look at that improvement, even if the other two subjects wavered. But it depends on how much it waivered (i.e. didn't drop by like 5 points). But the overall scores don't add up like the SATs.
