Hi all,

I have been shadowing a group of (6) physicians that work together in the same practice. I am planning on asking for a LOR, but should I ask one or two for separate letters of rec, or should I ask for only one, and have all of the doctors sign it?

All of them expressed interest in writing me a letter, and I am having a hard time choosing which physician to ask. Would it look unfavorable if I submit one letter with 5 or 6 signatures?

Any ideas appreciated!

Thanks and regards,

They like you and want to help you but unless a school specifically says that a LOR from a physician you have shadowed is necessary, it is superfluous and a waste of everyone's time.

Pick one of them to write you a letter (one signature). More than that is unnecessary. You can talk about shadowing multiple physicians on AMCAS.

Maybe if your applying DO and need a DO letter.

What can they possibly say about you? Your eager? Your good at following them?

a few months before i applied to med school i visited an ophthalmologist (as a patient) and in the course of chatting i told him i was applying to med school...on the way out he offered to write me a LOR. people make these offers just to be nice. it doesn't mean the LOR is going to be a strong or useful one.
