I'm sure I'm not the only one that received this email:

Dear Candidate:

The committee has recently completed its review of your application and supporting credentials. It has been favorably reviewed, and moved to a smaller pool of applicants who potentially will be invited to interview for the entering class of 2006. Candidates who receive invitations are selected by the strength of their credentials and completion date of the application. If and when the committee gets to your application we will be happy to email an invitation to you.

Hey guys,
I got the same email last year. I ended up interviewing in february. It means they favorably reviewed your app. and now is in a pool where you are selected by date of app. complete and credentials. You can give them a call, but it is just a way that they like to keep you updated on your app. as opposed to most schools that make you wait with no info. Best of Luck!!!

How is this pool any different from the regular applicant pool? Are we just all the people that got rejected from interview right away? Or are there people that got interview, people that were put into this "smaller pool", and then a group of people that were rejected right out? I guess in essence all this means is that we just have to wait longer 🙁 Oh well...........at least i'm not rejected.

I got the same e-mail today. Had my LOR's sent out last monday, so was complete sometime late last week I think...

I hope it's a good sign (I'm only complete at a handful of schools, and this is the first I have heard back from)... 👍

a friend of mine just got an interview invite from mcw and he was complete mid-july...but I haven't heard anything and was complete mid-july too. mcw is my top choice so i'm pretty anxious to hear something. good luck to you all.

I am an M1 at MCW that wandered over to see what is going on. If you interview early (before jan) you stand a muchhhhhh higher chance of being accepted. I have heard of them accepting more than 90% of people from a particular day. However, you really starting battling for spots after january cause a lot of acceptance were given out earlier. good luck

I'm gonna mention something here that I posted in another MCW thread.

When I was applying Istwan told me that if an application has any individual MCAT section score at 8 or lower, it has to go through some sort of "secondary review" of some sort. I have no idea what that entails but I guess it means that it might take longer to get an interview invite or "something else."

Just in case people fall into that category, it might take longer. But it doesn't mean you're out!

I e-mailed MCW to find out what their e-mail meant and just went ahead and asked if this is a pesudo-hold status.

Their reply:

Thank you for your inquiry. As the email indicated, your file has been
favorably reviewed. That means that the committee has found you to be
the type of candidate they would interview. And as the email indicated
those candidates who are favorably reviewed are selected to receive an
invitation to interview by the strength of their credentials and the
completion date of their application. If and when we get to your
application we will be happy to email you an invitation to interview.
Unfortunately, there is little to do except to be patient and hope that
we do get to your application.

I thinks it's BS. Just e-mail them about it. And I think receipt of the e-mail depends on when you were complete or something. Let us know, what happens.

I got this letter last year and never recieved an interview I then recieved a rejection letter from the comittee in march, so even if you get this letter it does not mean you will get an interview, by the way I also recieved this letter this year

That's what I thought. The little if/when kinda gave it away. Too ambiguous.

Still, it's nice of them do dress up their "on hold" notice this way.
