I am in a position I never dreamed I would be in. I get to choose between two great programs for PT school. While I know I'm incredibly lucky I'm also incredibly confused. I live in the Atlanta area, but not close enough to save money by living at home (it took me 2 1/2 hours to get back from the interview in rush hour traffic, which was apparently "lighter than normal" that day...not something I'm willing to commit to every day). The money is essentially the same at either place. Tuition and cost of living differ by very little at either program since I would be out of state for MUSC. I have always wanted to go to MUSC and wasn't really even seriously considering Emory until I visited for the interview. Everything about the program was just so impressive. I'm really leaning towards the direction of sports/athletic rehab but after working with stroke patients this past summer part of me wants to explore the neuro aspect of PT too.

What made you guys choose the school you did (especially if it was MUSC or Emory)? If anybody has any input that would be greatly appreciated! 🙂

I'm currently a student at Emory and I love it. I didn't apply to or look into MUSC so I can't comment on their program but I can tell you how I ended up at Emory. When I went to Emory's interview I could picture myself going there and succeeding. All of the professors I met seemed very knowledgeable and also very welcoming (as a student I can tell you that my first impressions were absolutely right, the faculty members here are more than willing to help students succeed). I was also excited that research is incorporated into the curriculum. Eventually I hope to get into research so it's nice to have that built in, even if you don't want to do research it's still important that you understand the process and can translate research findings into clinical practice. Those were the two main reasons that I ended up choosing Emory, feel free to ask me if you have any other questions!
