First, I know at some point in life (as I head onto a child & adolescent fellowship), I will get one of the Big Fat Child & Adolescent Reference Texts, which I will pay an exorbitant amount for and rarely if ever read. But now, as a 4th year, I am so freakin' tired of reading with a highlighter in my hand...
what I'm saying is I'm looking for some good READS about our field. We've got $200 to burn. On the list so far:
Fonagy's Affect regulation, mentalization, and the development of the self
Bleiberg's Treating Personality Disorders in Children and Adolescents: A Relational Approach
Greene's The Explosive Child: A New Approach for Understanding and Parenting Easily Frustrated, Chronically Inflexible Children
Bruce Perry's The Boy Who Was Raised As a Dog: And Other Stories from a Child Psychiatrist's Notebook--What Traumatized Children Can Teach Us About Loss, Love, and Healing
Any other ideas? Narratives are a plus. Texts that quote thousands of other papers, not so much. I have so many gigantic textbooks (Neuropsychiatry, anyone? 🙄) I've never read. Something about play therapy would be lovely. Thanks!
