My chances at Top 4

Hey,
I was planning to apply for the Sept 2009 semester at the top 4
My stats are low but any advice will be appreciated 🙂

CGPA-2.81
SGPA-3.0
Have more than 500 volunteer hours
Have LOR'S from 2 pre med professors and a physician with whom I have worked with
Haven't taken the MCAT yet and I plan to take it in June or July

Do I have a chance at Top 4? Would you suggest that I should start applying and let them know that I will be taking the MCAT or should I wait till I take it and then apply?

If you take the MCAT in July, it might be way too late to apply for the fall semester. But this is what i would do if i were you anyway. You need atleast a 30 on the MCAT with your gpa which is similar to mine.

If you take the MCAT in june, you'll be rushing yourself. I have heard others on here contemplate rushing the mcat a month for this reason. And this is seriously one of the dumbest things i have ever heard in my life. As a pre-med, we spend 4 years (48 months) taking hard science classes, hundreds of hours volunteering over this time, many hours shadowing, and some people also do research..... and then some people don't want to wait one more month to study for something that is worth just as much as those 48 months of undergraduate courses and volunteering and shadowing and research !!!????

Stats don't mean much without a MCAT. If you got a 27 and up, you'd have a chance, but the GPAs are a little low. But SGU and Ross have all sorts of ways to get in whether it be via MERP, the Charter project, or some other master's program. So with that said, sure.
