my chances of getting in if i got cheating cheating

hello everyone.
i will be applying to podiatrist school for fall of 2012. My Gpa is 3.0 with science of 3.2 and my mcat is a 31p. I am a certified emt with plenty of volunteer hours under my belt. Also iam going to one of the top state universities in NY

😡 the only problem is that i got cheated off of last year and my school has a very strict policy and now it says that i have got caught cheating on my transcript and an F for the class.
do i still have any chance of being able to get in to any podiatrist school. Also what can i do to improve my chances.

Well. If you did not cheat you would get in everywhere with those stats.

Why dont you call the admissions for one of the schools you DONT want to go to and talk to them . That way if they blow up or whatever you dont have to deal with them knowing who you are in the future. The only way you will get a idea is talking to admissions.

For most school applications you are required to explain (often in detail) if you've faced disciplinary actions as a result of academic dishonesty, have a criminal history, etc. Just be honest from the start; admission is almost always granted on a case-by-case basis. Explain your situation, especially if (or when) you are being interviewed, and hopefully your academic history/social involvement, etc. will speak for itself. Good luck!

Everyone makes mistakes. Just show that you've learned from this experience and vow never to let it happen again and you should be fine. With a 31 MCAT your bound to get in somewhere 👍
 
Well that all depends on the level of "cheating"

Was it something small like working on a hw with someone when the teacher said not to?

Or was it being caught by security in the middle of the night hanging from a building trying to break into the teacher's office through the window in order to steal the final?
 
its wasn't extreme like that. I ended up having the same answers for the a multiple choice test as another student.

That's still not tell us anything. How did you get the answers and what rules you broke to get them is what the schools will be interested in.

Also, calling it a multiple choice test is too vague isn't it? IT makes me think of a little insignificant quiz, but for all we know, it could have been the final and worth 60% of your overall grade. Also what class is it in? If it was in a science class, why shouldn't the school suspect that you have cheated before in the past and just gotten caught now?

There really is no final in the class, it is a series of exam held every month or so. There are 4 test with 50 multiple choice questions. Me and the other person caught had the same grade (92%) with the same answers wrong. The teacher himself did not catch us but just looked to see that we had the same answers after grading it. I have never gotten caught before and was even a teacher assistant for organic chem.

I really have no answer as to why the school shouldn't suspect that i have cheated before. Is there anything that i could say or write to say that this is my first last and only offense.

You might want to rephrase this answer....

Cheating shows very poor judgment. Why did you do it? You may need some time after undergrad to show that you've matured.

i have i took a year off... is that enough time based on my gpa and mcat will i be able to get in. Also my GPA and MCAT will both rise does getting caught effect my chances of scholarship.. since i know tthere are people who have gotten some money with lower mcat and gpa then mine
 
wow...u got a 92% (so basically 4 questions out of 50 wrong) on a multiple choice test and happened to have the same ones wrong as someone else....i dont know how they proved that at all...this is crazy to me!

I find it interesting that you've never mentioned whether or not you actually DID cheat.

So, I will simply ask. This is an anonymous forum and no one knows who you are. Did you or did you not cheat?

I did not cheat. But there is no way for me to prove that i didn't. In the copy of the reason that i was found guilty by the committee that decides this is that even though there is a chance for students to have the same answers wrong with the same wrong answer choice. But there is too much of a coincidence to say otherwise.

But MY main question is still unanswered. Since my mcat is still significantly higher than what is needed is that something that will get me in. I figured i ask here first. But i guess i will send an email to the school and find out. I will post the reply that i get from their admissions office once i get it. hopefully they will say that there is still a chance that i can get in.

Not to sound like a jerk or anything, but if you are emailing the dean of a medical school, you might want to work on proper formatting and grammar usage. Especially if you want them to think that you are capable of passing without cheating...

It was the comments that I highlighted above that prompted me to actually ask IF he did cheat. I know he said he was "cheated off of", but those comments above left me a little bewildered.

If I didn't cheat, I certainly wouldn't volunteer to write that this was my first, last and only offense, I would simply DENY the offense and fight the false charges.

Now maybe you'll understand the genesis of my question.
