Hello, guys
I just got DAT score... but I really don't like my score.
It was my 1st DAT. How can I improve my score? any idea?

PAT:16
QR:18
Bio:16
Gem Chem:21
Ochem:17
RC:14

I used Kaplan material and DAT destroyer.

For PAT, I really don't know how to solve the angle problems and the "top front side" problem quickly. any idea?

What is the good material for preparing Bioloigy section?
😳

I would use more material. DAT Destroyer and Kaplan isn't enough in my opinion.

I used:
Kaplan Blue Book + Exams and other Material
Destroyer
Cliffs AP Bio
TopScore
Achiever
Class Notes
Textbooks

Also i recommend studying for at least 2 months straight, before taking the exam.

For PAT i would recommend CDP.

What is CDP?

I ckecked the website.
There are 3 types of editions. which one is good enough to practice?

By the way, thanks a lot

i would personally recommend getting the ace package. you only have to pay 30 more dollars for 5 more tests. more practice will make you better in this section. 👍

i would say, practice, practice, practice. i've already taken the dat once, but now i have been studying differently from the first time and i think it is better. i'm naturally a crammer so i would study 2-3 days/week for 8-10 hours a day and it was the worst thing i couldve done. i say pace yourself to do like 2-3 hours/day, not only studying but testing yourself as well.

buy as much practice materials as you can. the destroyer and kaplan are good, but they're not the only things out there that you can use.. the cliffs ap books are really good because they teach you and test you. also, i definitely recommend cdp like dmitry said, and maybe topscore to practice your timing a little more.

hopefully, youll have more luck next time around. happy studying!
p.s. i forgot to ask you, what method did you use on reading comp? search and destroy or did you actually read the full passages> lots of tone questions or what?

Read the full passages with writing key words then solve questions. - I didn't have time to solve 3rd passage.

Read the full passages with writing key words then solve questions. - I didn't have time to solve 3rd passage.

a couple of things that may help you next time.

1) don't READ the passages SCAN them...the test is purposely set up so you don't have enough time to read the full passage and answer the questions, so scaning or search/destroy is your best option.

i'm guessing you were using Kaplan's Roadmap strategy here, where Kaplan suggests separating the passages by paragraph, and writing down the main idea of each paragraph as well as keywords from each paragraph, so you know where to look to find the answers to each question. i used the same strategy, and got faster with practice (although i didn't practice enough). i would try to do a passage or two each week during your studying, and by test day you should be really comfortable with the material.

alternatively, you can try the search and destroy method...where you don't scan the passages at all, or just read the first/last paragraph before going to the questions and quickly searching for the answers to the questions. just be forewarned, that with this method TONE questions should be skipped and saved until the end, because it is difficult to answer tone questions without being exposed to the majority of the passage.

2) try to spend about 8-10 minutes scanning/key words and 10-12 minutes on questions for each passage, for a total of 20 minutes/passage.

if you aim for 20 minutes per passage you should be on time to finish. keep in mind that some passages may take a little longer than others, but if you are running 25 or 27 minutes on the first passage, you should realize at this point that you'll need to RUSH through the last two passages to finish.

3) if you are running out of time. under one or two minutes, scan each of the remaining questions and GUESS.

not sure if you were able to put an answer for each question, but guessing is better than leaving a question blank...remember with multiple choice tests you have a 25% chance of getting questions correct, even with blind guesses! so guess on any remaining questions if you realize you are going to run out of time before finishin them all.

main point: practice, practice, practice in a real time situation, and time yourself during your practice tests to improve your timing on the real thing.

RC-19 my passages were easy DNA,brain, and the oher i forgot.... i just went search and destroy once i saw my first question. ran out of time . 3 min left with 5 questions. i think i took too long on my first passage(DNA which was pretty interestint to me).........def. keep in mind on timing..!!
the part that really confuses me was when they gave me the one sentence then the choisces were:
-both are correct, sentence/thus are related
-both are corre, but no related to
-not correct
-...
-......
