Summer😳chem1 at CC
Fall:bio1,ochem2 at CC
spring: bio2 at CC
summer: Take DAT and apply Dental school at the same time.
I will take biochem,physics1,2at CC after I apply
I will have my BA.
Does this sounds like a good idea? I know that taking CC doesnt matter too much except Tufts.

Sounds good; though I'd try to knock out physics 1 or Ochem 2 in the second session of your summer school, unless you have a specific reason for only taking ochem 1 (no 2nd session, want time off, etc); just so you don't have as many classes post-application to deal with, not sure how the schools view 3 pre-reqs incomplete, I wouldn't be surprised if they asked about them at an interview maybe.

thx for your repsonse... yah my school don't have ochem 2 during summer... I wish they did 🙁 and I thought if i finish my pre-req before I enter dental school I am fine.
and ochem1 and bio1 conflicts during summer 🙁

So.. all your pre-reqs will be done at a CC?

Another fairly active poster, VicViper?, claimed to have done this successfully and has been accepted (?) to dental school just fine I believe. I can't see how doing pre-reqs at a CC could really be an issue, as long as your DAT scores were good along with the grades received.

but my question is would CC pre-req course prepare me to do well for DAT..?

How good you prepare for DAT depends on how much you study on your own anyways. I don't think pre-req courses taken at CC will give you a disadvantage when preparing for the DAT compared to if you take pre-reqs at a 4-year university.

oh good stuff... what a relief.... I just cant wait to finish my pre-req's and study for DAT!
Question: I know it depends on the person but ususally how long people study for DAT? is it 2-3months? I am planning to study for DAT during summer without any classes. Just mad focus on DAT! NO JOB also! my GOAL at least 20

Well, it depends how much you study every day. I took the test December 1st but started studying for it in mid August (so that's 3.5 months). However, I work full-time and do many other things outside so I wasn't spending my whole time studying for it. I still did pretty good.
If you have a month or 1.5 months and you study every day as much as you can (at least 8 hours a day) you can get all of your scores above 22. It also depends on your studying skills. Some people study 3 weeks and get AA >22, others study much more than 3 months and do average on the test.

I would be surprised if it doesn't raise eyebrows that you're purposefully dodging taking all your difficult pre-reqs at your own school. might not hurt you if you get good grades but i can't imagine admission committees would be loving it.

You probably shouldn't apply to Michigan:

Is it okay to do all of my prerequisite work at a community college?
No, the admissions committee prefers to see prerequisites taken at a four-year college or university (http://www.dent.umich.edu/prospective/faqs.html)

michigan response is confusing. it says NO. but it says "prefers" LOL

ADEA Official Guide to Dental Schools says that Michigan accepts community college pre-req credits. Don't worry about it, just ace the classes and then the DAT.

thx for ur response, I just cant wait to apply dental school..... and take DAT! Hopefully I will ace the pre-req classes...
