Good afternoon,
I am a fourth year chemistry student at Towson University. I am planning on applying to pharmacy school this fall. I haven't taken the PCAT yet(I plan to in october and in January 2016) but my stats are as followed. My college career has been filled with ups and downs with a loss of plenty of family members to death and jail so my concentration hasnt always been there. African American male, 2.9cGPa, 2.3sGPA, 3.5non-science GPA, 3 years of being a registered pharmacy technician, tons of extra curriculars, vice-predisent of my fraternity, coordinator for my charity, member of the NAACP on my campus and have been an advocate for #alllivesmatter. I am wondering if with a good pcat score, I would be a good candidate for pharmacy school with my stats. Thanks

With a good PCAT score you will be a good candidate for CERTAIN schools.

Your GPA is pretty low, but your extracurricular portfolio is good. If you also have good LORs, personal statement, etc. then you should be fine.

Research the admissions data for specific pharmacy schools to see which ones typically admit a student with your stats.

thank you for your response, everyone keeps saying that being a urm also helps even though I don't really understand that. Lastly, what is a good pcat score that would definitely guarentee me admittance to atleast one school? Thanks

You'd probably want to shoot for at least an 80+. Go for 90+ if you wanna be on the safe side.

Most pharmacy schools will want your science GPA to be 3.0+. Maybe consider taking some post bacc classes to boost up your gpa, or kill the pcat! Your extracurricular and pharmacy technician experience is great! Best of luck!
