I saw a patient in the ED today with myasthenia gravis. had been in MVC, now with painful spasms of bilateral trapezius muscles with some torticollis to one side. The exam was consistent with significant muscle spasms. My question is, why is a patient with MG able to sustain a contraction like that? I was thinking that MG would somehow be 'protective' against spasms/torticollis.
