Remove Rutgers, UNC, OHSU since they admit few non residents with no connection to the state. You could add these schools:
Washington University (in St. Louis)
Hofstra
Ohio State
Cincinnati

Hey, I've changed up my list a bit and would like to see everyone's thoughts on it. If possible, I would like to cut it down a bit more but am open to adding more schools that might be a good fit 🙂 Is it too top heavy?

I believe that you can delete Gtown, GWU, and possibly Wake due to the risk of resource protection. Skip UCR if you're not from the Inland Empire.

Consider Baylor, UTxSW, U WI, and U VM.

Otherwise, fine list. Nothing wrong with aiming high.

Don’t overthink this. You should easily get into one of the 40 “T-20” schools. Seriously.

What does a clinical volunteering club for unhoused individuals do? I consider founding a club under leadership. Also mentoring first-gen students.

Thanks Goro! Just to confirm, U WI is University of Wisconsin - Madison and U VM is University of Vermont? MSAR says the schools you recommend favor in-state applicants so I’m curious as to your reasoning (unless I’m incorrect about the in-state preference)
Yes correct to the schools.

Not all schools favor the home team to the exclusion of OOSers. Look at the IS/OOS %s for U VM and U WI in MSAR AND the median GPAs and MCAT for acceptd OOSers.; this is why I have these schools listed

I included my social fraternity leadership experience on my application and got asked about it many times during interviews. If you can spin it to a positive, definitely add it, I think it helped my application stand out! Just be aware that some interviewers will view it as a negative, I did get asked in one interview if I thought frats/sororities were a positive or negative given their negative reputation at many schools/in the media. Basically be prepared for some people to not like it hahaha

I suggest the above. Cut out Columbia and Sinai if you don't think you'd like NYC. That will get you down to 35 schools, which should be manageable.

Hi Chilly,

Thanks for the recommendations! Just out of curiosity, why should I not be applying to some of the schools like Creighton, Drexel, EVMS, Hackensack, etc.? I had originally included them to balance out my school list because I felt that it was a bit top heavy.
They will probably think you are unlikely to ultimately end up there, so will save the interview for other applicants.

Schools like USF, Vermont, and Dartmouth help balance the list and have gotten applicants like you to matriculate before in the past. Saint Louis is another option if you want to include them.
