Hello, Student Doctors!

It's that time of the year where we are looking for new national board members!

We have 2 positions to fill for the school year 2021-2022. The positions are Communications Director and Web Master. Please spread the word to your SVECCS members. If you are interested, please see the attached PDF to apply!

The deadline is July 3rd, at 6:00pm EST. Please submit typed applications to ([email protected]) by then.

Board members also get to attend IVECCS--> 😉

· Communications Director:

The Communications Director will share responsibility for maintaining communication on the official NSVECCS Facebook page with the Webmaster. The CD will also have a portion of the list of school chapters for communicating with as information needs dissemination. Additionally, it will be the CD’s responsibility to ensure that the assigned schools keep up with their active status, or alter the President if they need to be flagged for probation and unable to receive chapter benefits. They will also be assigned the organization and editing of the biannual newsletters (Fall and Spring). Additionally, the Communications Director will be responsible for contacting chapters for submissions for Vital Signs; in conjunction, they will be responsible for maintaining the current and previous editions/publications in the Google Drive. The CD has full creative and artistic freedom for the Vital Signs publications, but the final draft must be approved by the other officers and the advisor. The CD will then be responsible for emailing a PDF copy to the officers to ensure each board member can disseminate the newsletter to each chapter and their respective advisor(s).

· Web Master:

The Webmaster will share responsibility for maintaining communication on the official NSVECCS Facebook page with the Communications Director. The Webmaster is charged with maintaining the NSVECCS website (www.sveccs.org) and updating at least once a semester (Fall/Spring). They will be required to collect all the accurate information required to keep the membership as well as the general public informed. Changes to the website will be designated by the current President; however the Webmaster has free creative and artistic domain over the website. If links are used in the website, the Webmaster is responsible for checking periodically each link is still functional and not broken.

VECCS has a student program at IVECCS in which students volunteer for “Team IVECCS”. In return, students agree to volunteer for 2 - ½ day tracts, approximately 8 hours at the conference. Students will receive free registration (approx., $150 value), a student and intern/resident reception, and most of their meals.

Besides comp. registration for the Student, VECCS will also award $300 or $500 to the Vet Schools in attendance (depending on how many students attend). These funds can be used to support your student travel to IVECCS or added to the SVECCS Chapter Funds. With this funding we are hopeful that at least one student from every school can attend. The e-checks will be e-mailed out to the school’s SVECCS Chapter President approximately 10 days after IVECCS has ended. The chapter determines how the funds are distributed.

Secondly, points will be awarded to the students that attend and obtain extra points for volunteering for additional sessions. The school that has the most combined student points will receive an additional $500, payable to their SVECCS Chapter!

  • Opportunity to network with other students
  • A special reception is held for students and intern/residents

This is a tremendous learning experience and many of our students have gone on to complete residencies and become specialists in part because of their contacts and experiences gained at IVECCS.
