It’s a 3 year residency where you learn to place giant amalgam restorations. Albeit amazingly beautiful giant amalgam restorations.

FTOS means full time out service; you train at a civilian institution, incurs additional payback time plus what you already owe.
FTOS/OFI means full time out service/other federal institute. You can do comp/OMFS/Ortho etc. with the Army or Air Force.
Ortho is always FTOS/OFI with the Air Force tri service residency , the navy does not have its own orthodontics residency and it’s crazy competitive to get in.
Why does the Army allow other branches to come in to their back yard but not the other way around lol
