Hello!

I’m accepted for the 3 year Navy HPSP scholarship, I’m a second year DO student and I really could use some authentic advice. Im not getting an accurate picture from my recruiter and he’s pressuring me to sign.

I just learned that on top of my 3 year active duty obligation, I have 5 years in the IRR(reserves). And I found that out yesterday, when I was supposed to sign my commissioning documents.

I would really appreciate some authentic advice from Navy docs or other physicians who went through HPSP. I’d love an opportunity to speak over the phone with someone if possible, I’m having a hard time finding unbiased people who went through HPSP.

Thank you so much for your help, I really appreciate it, and could use some advice lol.

IRR is effectively nothing. They might pull you back in if WW3 happens. If you want to do HPSP that shouldn't be the thing to dissuade you.

That’s what my recruiter was saying. Did you do the HPSP scholarship or are you currently doing it?
I'm in the program now, but most of my family are military. I've never known anyone to be recalled from IRR in 3 generations of my family.
