Oh Geez;

Sing along kiddos:

It's the most wonderful time of the year; Wade will be dashing, Kobe will be thrashing, Lebron will be dashing (that D-Howard dunk on him), and K-Durant will be smashing...but I'll be stashing all my damn time in the stupid secluded library---HELP ME!! Why? Why, must I suffer?

So the NBA finals start on the morrow and of course Orlando's going to win it all, but take a wild guess who won't be watching. Yep, you guessed right ME. 40 games in 40 nights vs. t-minus-39 days in counting till MCAT; AWWWWWWW.

Anyone else in my situation, what to do, what to do? Hmmm, any suggestions?

study before or after the game(s) you want to watch for the day. its not that hard.

Become a warriors fan. Problem solved.

This is exactly how I felt during opening weekend of college football the year I took my mcat. Haha just pick and choose dude. Good luck!

Not necessarily a bad thing. I am a huge Magic fan and took the MCAT last year. It actually helped me out, it gave me something to look forward to while I was studying all day. I watched every single playoff Magic game and still scored well on the MCAT.

Both the MCAT and the NBA playoffs are important. What a difficult choice to make.

i would love it so much if derek rose beat the lebrons.

LOL! I took the MCAT last year, and I gotta say my team couldn't have picked a better time to miss the playoffs! 😀
Ah, the playoffs. It's so great to be back this year. Woohooo!

Where's the talk about Ginobili, Parker and Duncan 😡

I have a big round of exams next week. So I'm letting myself watch from tipoff until the first commercial, and then the last 3 minutes of the game. At this stage of the game, though, you really should have no trouble planning your studying well enough to be able to watch the whole game if you want.
seriously?

Ya srsly.
you mean the part about them being washed up?

if they can beat the mavs they'll have my attention
Truth be told, I think we're as good as anyone in the West just because nobody in the West was that good this year. But the Mavs match up really well against us and are about the last team I wanted to face; I'd have much rather had Phoenix or Utah.

In any case, it doesn't matter because the Cavs or Magic are winning the title.

the mavs pose major match up problems for the spurs with the addition of caron butler, but i'm sure you know this.

i still have a hard time seeing someone in th east winning. i think the lake show will get it together. lakers v. magic repeat

It's not so much Butler, who's a rough approximation of what Josh Hoard always gave them when we played in the past. It's that BHPIACY (Brendan Haywood Playing in a Contract Year) is a gigantic upgrade on their interior defense, when they already presented matchup problems for us. As long as Ginobili plays like he has the last month and Parker is at least at 80% and can blow by Jason Kidd we've got a good shot, though; I just would've rather let someone else take the Mavs out.

The Kobe out there playing with his hurt finger isn't the Kobe you're used to seeing; he's shot 40% since the all-star break and clearly isn't right. Bynum is obviously still out, and Artest doesn't seem like the "turn it on" type. They're the favorites out West, but only by a tiny margin; this is the first time in recent memory that I'm positive that the No. 8 seed has the best player in their first round series.

Magic were my pick before the season, and I see no reason to change now.

this is ridiculous...there are only 1-2 games a night which is no more than 5 hours of relaxing time. assuming you sleep 9 hours a night, 2 hours eating breakfast, lunch, dinner, and 1 hour doing other random stuff, you still have 7 hours to do nothing but study

that is unless you are also taking classes at the same time

kevin durant is the man.

i feel like the mavs are better with butler than they were with howard. butler is more reliable on and off the court. the spurs need parker to win that PG match up and somehow hold dirk around 20 ppg.

You're absolutely right that Butler>Howard now. I just feel like Howard was significantly better in years past when we played the Mavs, so there's not a big difference in talent at that position from what we've seen in the past. Haywood is the big addition.

Actually the Spurs have always played Dirk one-on-one and accepted that while he might get his 35, we can't let the rest of the team beat us. Butler, Kidd, Marion, Haywood... none of them are that good at creating their own shot, though obviously Kidd can create for others. Terry can, but he's hot and cold. Can the rest of that team put up 60 points? Like you said, a huge part of the series will be determined by how much Parker can exploit Kidd's slowness as well as keep him from creating opportunities for his teammates; if Parker isn't mostly healthy, we probably don't have a prayer, but if he is that's a major matchup advantage that we can exploit.

in say, 5 years, i hope d-rose and the durantula are on the same team.

durant might surpass lebron's accomplishments. i would love that so much. lebron is such a pretty boy b!tch

I really can't see the Spurs beating the Mavs. Mavs are too deep, Dirk's peaking at the right time. I'd say Mavs in 6.

Eh. I don't know that he's worse than Kobe, especially considering how Kobe was himself at that age.

I'm really excited to see how Durant plays in the playoffs. Surpassing LeBron would be tough just because of what an absurd physical specimen LeBron is, but he could make it close.

LeBron will be better than Jordan. Durant has a chance to make it to that level.

We'll see. On paper, the Mavs are probably pound-for-pound better, but the Spurs have played much better than the Mavs lately. I certainly wouldn't feel comfortable putting money on a team with noted choke artists like Dirk and Marion, though Dirk always seems to bring it against the Spurs. It'll all come down to matchups.

and there will be an nba after this year, and the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that......

i never get the point of watching sports any way, i think time is better spend playing a video game or watching some movie with friends or out chasing girls, just my 2 cents 🙂.

1) You never know, your team will only be in the playoffs or contention for so long (especially my team 😛)

2) After next season there might NOT be the NBA for a while due to an impending lockout 🙁

In summary: NBA>>life.

The NBA is fixed, it will def. be Lakers vs. Cavs or Magic (if a ref forgets to pay attention)

Yes. That's why the Spurs won 4 titles and we didn't have Kobe-LeBron in the Finals last year after all of the stupid puppet commercials :lame:

I might be somewhat worried about the refs being bought by outside gamblers, but I don't think the NBA is fixing the games.

... oops, sorry OP, I think I inadvertantly completely hijacked your thread. Does anyone have anything to actually help the OP's question? 😳

LAKERS ALL THE WAYYYY!!!

I think it'll be Cavs in the finals (yeah, they'll beat Magic, the King is hungry for his ring!), vs. hopefully the Lakers. I'm a little worried with how they did towards the end of the season, looking 6 of 9 games. But Kobe didn't play in the last few, and hopefully he'll come back with a fiery spirit and put on a show night in and night out.

Cavs will be really tough to beat, I honestly don't think the Lakers can, UNLESS Kobe is able to just TAKE OVER.

Just don't worry about it dude. The NBA playoffs are a joke. There are a handful of teams that have a legit shot at the title- Cleveland and Orlando out of the east and the Lakers, Nuggets, and maybe the Mavericks out of the west (I'm not buying the Jazz and Suns). You can at least study through the first and second rounds of the playoffs without missing a thing.

i dont even have a team lol. sports like these are too long to watch, each game is like 3 - 4 hours, i might be confusing with football, but oh well.

hence why i watch MMA. UFC is my fav. some of the fighters in there are legends.

This thread is ridiculous. CLEARLY the NHL Playoffs are FAR more important than some crappy basketball.

UFC/MMA is stupid. even if you win, you still get your ass beat. Fail.

study until the last 2 min of the game, nba blows until then anyways... nobody even tries

could not agree more. nba is great for watching highlights, but entire games are worthless.
