hi folks,
guess im set to break all records! of the time of study, that is!!! 😀
my exam is on June 16th and i have just begun 2 weeks ago.
worst part? im confident of finishing....dont know how i got this confidence...but it sure is strong! im calling it the 'worst part' coz its scary being confident when u have absolutely no clue as to how you are going to make it!! im trying to finish decks as fast as i can...and revise atleast thrice before i sit for the exam. I will do the papers once and then do a quick reading thru again. Im just racing thru the Kaplan notes. Biochem is taking up most of my time. Im trying to love it...coz thats the only way i can conquer it..so far no luck!

still....i want to prove that NBDE CAN BE DONE IN A MONTH. My friends back home has passed the IQE (UK) exam by studying for just a month. and that too the WHOLE DENTISTRY SUBJECTS + ...with kids and all. we have just 6 sub.s...so it shouldnt be that difficult like everyone thinks.

i will not say anything further till i get my results...if i get thru with good marks, it will be a relief to all of you who are struggling with time. If i dont...oh well..atleast i tried and i can always retake the exam with more confidence!

good luck, ppl

thanks paddy, thanks g3k....i need that encouragement.

hi m_sh....u r in better shape than I am...atleast u finished a subject!
im doing 100 decks a day. In the next 20 days, i aim to finish decks once, then i will revise them, and just before the exam scan thru them once more. i will solve papers as and when i finish each subject. solved a few already even though i dint finish decks. i do 3 subjects a day, 30-40 decks of each sub. then i read Kaplan and some topics from text books which im not sure of..i just read them like stories...we dont have to write essays, right? just objective questions...so u just need to understand them.

so far, its going okay...believe me, when u know u r finishing fast, its a real booster...it will give you more confidence. let me know if i can help with anything. dont worry, we will make it. ALL OF US WILL!

take care..

dentophilia

hi all,

is it a must to read from so many books...some say lipincott..some say harpers..some chaurasia..tencate.....some say kaplan review book..and the rest say just do the ADA recommended books....is all that neccesary??
is'nt that too big a list to study from...i mean in college we knew we had short answers and essays to write...but here its just multiple choice...
wont the decks n question papers be sufficient???
i know toothie and many other seniors in this site have recommened us to study from various books...buts its just imposible ..we read and the next minute its gone from my head....
its so difficult to do daily chores at home and then to take time to study.
is there any chance by just memorising the decks and going thru the papers that we can do well.??? ( i know this is a repeated question ...but is there any chance)

relax..do not panic.......its not all about books..its how much and how much u need to know....do not run after many books.....u need a basic outline for every subject....all books provide the same....rest all is application of mind......so just follow one book for each subject..u feel comfortable with or the ones you have read before........my 2 cents.......all the best...

Hi guys,
tell me something..how are u ppl handling all 4 subjects?Do u study all 4 subjects everyday??I am planning to spend 10 days on 2 subjects and another 10 days on the other 2 but i am afraid i might forget the sub i studied in the beginning!!How do u do it?? 😕(I am giving the paper based part1 in july)

Hi guys...thanks for the wishes, all of you..i wish you all the same..

here are some tips for speed study..
-If u read Kaplan review notes before u study decks...u can finish decks faster...plus, the facts will be imprinted in ur mind..when u study decks alone..there r many things u dont know abt the subject..so it takes more time to read & understand them.
-when u read a chapter from kaplan notes for the first time, dont just start reading from the first line. first scan all the headings, subheadings, diagrams, tables and charts. this can take 5-10 mins. now study the notes, clinical correlates and mnemonics given at the side...this will give u an idea of whats important in that subject and what can be left out. Now read the chapter..u will find that when u know a little something abt what u r reading, u will read faster...and will understand better. Try it.
