NBDE 2 reference curve

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I have the same question...I wish somebody would answer it!!!!!!!!!

Roughly 57% = 82

Thanks for the information Reed 1978, but I don't know what t think, because I recently saw a treat where a SDN member was saying that he had 336 +- right in first day and sixty something in 2nd day and the score was 82, is it possible????

that is a relief......so if we have around 60 questions out of 100 correct, we can pass it......right???

I doubt it. Also, you must take into consideration the fact that each exam has it s own weighted average. I think that there is no one formula to guarantee a passing on this exam or any other exam given by the ADA. Study old exams and do the dental decks.

On my score report, the total questions came out to be 500. ADA told me that all the case based questions get incorporated into the main score report and as a result, you really don't know your actual questions correct in any given area.

Hope this helps.

You actually do know , my score report shows specific details for each specific area : op. dentis. , pharma , prostho , oral sur/pain , ortho/pedo , endo , perio , or.patho/radio , pati.managm. and cased-based-items which indeed represents the second day 100 questions. These details are the # of items , your correct number , and the national mean

example : # of items your correct # National mean

pharmacology 41 32 28

and so on for eachone of the above mentioned areas ,

in my case the sum of the correct answers for each area of the first day was 354 out of 400 and on the second day I got only 50 🙁 out of 100.

so 354 + 50 = 404 correct answers ( out of 500) which represents 80.5 % and my score was 85

LOCO 81
congrats for getting 85:clap:. I ve my exam next week, any tips for second day exam. Thats what Im worried about ri8 now.

Hi,loco81,

According to the feedback I got from my friend, as to your score, my understanding is the 354 should be out of 500 for both days, instead of 400 for first day. please correct me if you think that I am wrong.
🙂

you are incorrect
I just tried to be more specific and to decribe the actual score report .
I wont mention the words first and second day so 404 is the sum of the correct answers on all areas

loco, Its your report in front of your eyes, but you are wrong, sorry.. use a caculator... 354 is your correct answers in both days, out of 500.! if you add all numbers under (# of Item) field, you will get 600 and not 500

ya u r right..so how should we calculate scores.

there s no way to know your score in advanced , although the ADA says that it takes in between 4 -6 weeks , mine came in exactly 2 weeks and some other person that I know also recievedthe score in two weeks

Guys,
I called ADA and they told me:
1.There is no curve for NDBE Part2 !
2. The second day Each question counts as double points b/c of higher difficulty level! Therefore 500 questions to answer but 600 total!
3. The first day: Each SECTION consists of easy and difficult questions! If you do good on a difficult path question than an easy one this difficult question has a higher weight in the points!
It's a weired exam and they just make it more difficult!😕

You get more points if you answer a "hard question" than an "easy" question? Does your score will be higher if you are able to tackle the more complicated questions than the strict definition type questions?

Is there a place that states which sections have "hard" questions, eg. pedo or perio?

OrbitClean,
I do not know which the one the more difficult questions are! But I am sure that you will find it out yourself, soon! Just look for the ones that you can not answer right away! Not difficult! I promise:laugh: The only problem is: they are all difficult!!!

simply you can not ... each version has its own curve which is so different than other versions , I saw two score reports first with 399 correct/ 500 got 90%, another one has 405 or so, got 95% ...it depends on the difficulty level of the test.

hey ...thanx...but now i can figureout that I have to do 70-80 %question correct to get decent score.

Hi john,
You are absolutely correct. A practical example of it is Me and Loco. Loco corrected 405 questions and he got 85. I corrected 409 questions and I got 84. It reflects that loco have corrected some more difficult questions than me, thats why he got greater score than me despite correcting 5 less questions. Thanks a lot for your information.
