I dont post much but i jus wanted to say that after taking the NBDE 3 times i've finally passed it....1st n 2nd attempt 73(yup both times!) and this time i got 84...i just got the results....

i read like crazy tufts, decks, mosby and did all the released ASDA papers atleast 3 times....revised 2 times....i read like crazy for 3 months....tats all that i did if it helps anyone...Good luck to those of u'all studying....above all pray....tats my secret 🙂

Well people, the time has finally come... Pt 2 is the day after tomorrow so if any recent test takers have any advice to offer, pls feel free! I'm going into this pretty relaxed although that in itself is no indication of how terrified i am at this point! I feel I've studied the decks and parts of mosby's thoroughly while referencing various texts when required but I have very little clinical experience so i'm dreading the case studies... I found many of the more recent ASDA q's to be quite obscure so I'm seriously praying that most of my questions come from the decks and stuff. Your opinions on the most recently released ASDA q's vrs the current Q's on pt 2 would also be appreciated. Thanks a bunch... 😎

Hey Blasphy... I really know how you feel and I am sooo sorry!!! I just got my results today and they arrived 2 weeks and 1 day after taking my exam. I FAILED with a 74! - 320/500. My exam was extremely difficult. I got one of those exams that was subjective and most of the questions were not in any of the study material. There isn't much we can do at this point. I am really annoyed that I failed, but I went into this exam knowing the material and I was well prepared. I seriously studied for 1.5 months and my performance on this exam would have been the same if I had studied for a week. We just have to take it again. I don't remember most of the questions from my exam since I had never seen the topics in any study material. Can you believe that tuft's pharm didn't even help me on the exam? the decks and Mosby's did help with certain topics, but it did not help for the majority of my exam. It was a total diaster. To be honest, I don't know where I could have studied from that would have the material that was on my exam.

Not sure about the audit. Honestly I don't think your score will change, but you can give it a try. It won't hurt you.

Hi - I read your post and feel bad for you.

Do you really need to take the exam this soon? It seems you're not prepared enough to take it. You really need to go into the exam like you know very well all the subjects covered. That being said, you may still have plenty of time to study and learn all that you need, but you sound like you need a break for a little bit, re-charge and get back into study mode in over-drive. Make yourself a schedule, a realistic one and stick to the plan. I think the ASDA exams prior to 1993 are a waste of time IMO. Another option is to look at the candidate guide, they show you different books where JADA got the info for the test supposedly for each section, this may help you understand better. Remember all that you are studying are review books, they don't necessarily go through detail w/everything because supposedly you already have supposed to study it in school. Good luck!

oops, sorry I didn't realize you can't delay your exam.
suggestions:
read and re-read and re-read ALL of decks
read MOSBYS thoroughly
study the ASDA exams beginning from 1993 forward
if you can get tufts study book, then great
finally do the kaplan qbank, this will be very helpful
make a realistic study schedule and stick with it.
but do take a little break, you need to give your brain some breaks in order for the stuff to STICK like super glue!!!!!! again, good luck!

@odontalgia...ok so released papers from 93 onwards...i`ve done mosby`s(skipped patient managment unit) twice and dental decks pretty good...and i`ve taken kaplan online exam.
thts pretty much all i m capable to do i think...if u have any further tips please give me

Maybe you should take a day off just so you can process everything that you have studied so far. You still have more than 2 weeks left and you will be able to review the material. You've done a lot so far. Don't worry about what you are getting wrong in the released papers. Just keep on doing them over and over again until you feel comfortable. If you are getting that many wrong, focus on those exams for the next couple of days and I bet you will feel much better about them. After a while of answering those questions, you will be able to understand better all that you have studied. Aside from all the studying, it's a lot of practice. Don't give up and good luck!

thank you ...i started from 1977 ...but i m sticking to wat odontalgia said...i m starting from 93 onwards now...i`ve just done one released paper so far...and i screwed up big time in it...i m doing 1995 today...i`ve done less than half of it but its working out a bit better than 1977`s ....i`ve 23 days left to be precise starting from today...thank you for your feedback...i m logging on to studentdoctornetwork every five mins to check wat odontalgia had to say..and now its u aswell 🙂 thnx once again guys...they say u remember those ppl who helps u in bad times...🙂

but it just has one paper?...i never checked ..i was expecting to have every paper from 1998-2005 when i bought it...everyone has the same thing? or u ppl have 7 different papers? i hope u guys are gettin my question....

I couldn't agree more w/Endodontia about the pt mgt section in Mosbys. In fact, I found that section the most helpful out of all of Mosbys and many many of the exam ?s came out straight from Mosbys book in pt. mgt. I think decks did a poor job in this section, IMO. Good luck, you can do it!! 👍

i have from 77-89
and then i have 98-2005...just one released paper..which has around 400 mcqs...and correct me if i m wrong..ur saying tht there are no seperate paper for each year from 98-05 rite? just one test packet?
last question is..is it possible tht u email me 00-08 packet aswell ? i`ll pay u for it...

Hi guys, I just end up for the second year on the waiting list for advance standing program, 4 days ago I was dying, really desperate then I figure out that no body knows may be I will be luky on this waiting list year 😉 and second even if I waist-ed 2 years I am not gonna waist the 3rd or just give up.......so i decided to study for part2 , may be it will increase my chances to get in finaly 😉though i know that it's not easy to pass and this thread is quiet supporting this idea but I am still full of hope 😉 if anybody is interested to sell his part 2 stuff , I am really interested 😉 plz pm me

Aside from mosbys part 2 book , ada past releasedexams and tufts pharma section. any else?

I found first aid was weak for actual resent prep for current part 2.
I mean its Ok as a review in general but for exam its too not related for specific part2 prep.

I have old 2001 dental decks causeI cant afford new ones got it from a dental student...does it really make a difference in terms of dental decks recent vs old ones?

patient management is weak on the decks but found in mosby really interesting.

anywyas I got few days left Im taking it before the holidays to take it within the year ends.

I can neither comment on 2001 nor 2011 DDII, I only have 2007-2008 edition. Regarding the clinical cases, the only ones I used where from 1993,1998-2005 and 2000-2008 ASDA released papers. And I scored very similar on them as on a real exam.

I wanted to share my story with those that read these blogs. I was one of those students that failed 3 times and had to wait the dreaded year to retake the exam. After a year of studying and waiting, I failed again, this time with a 74. I took the same approach that I had always taken and I took my exam again on Nov. 12-13. I received my scores today and finally passed with a 77 😀 . (SO EXCITED) I thought that I was going to fail again but I just happen to slip 2 point past the required the 75. 👍 . I know my scores are lower than most I have seen posted, but my exam was really hard, asking things that had nothing to do with dentistry directly. The point I'm trying to make is those that have failed multiple of times, continue to study hard and your time will come

I got my scores tonight did not check my mail earlier today as I never suspected to get the results until next week it has only been a week since I took the exam and I passed!! I got 392/500 giving me a cumulative score of 87%. Never, never give up on your dreams work hard, and study as much relevant info as you can, and you will do it. I studied old exams, Tufts, decks (spent more time looking at the Decks in the areas I waas weak in), kapln Q Bank, and I also was fortunate to find a study partner in thelast month or so here on SDN who lived 2 hrs from me and we helped each othe (this helpe so much) Thanks study partner! Having a great support group means the world, and I had the best ever in my husband.
