I am new to SDN an have only posted once, but I have gained so much from others who have and through their stories (such people as Ms Toothy awesome inspiration) I decided to post my experience. I sat for part 2 on Nov 17th and 18th for the 4th time, yes the 4th. It was a humbling year and overall experience and I got relly epressed many times, but as my husband (who was my classmate) always said "it's not a matter of if just a matter of when" , and now it's over! I got my scores tonight did not check my mail earlier today as I never suspected to get the results until next week it has only been a week since I took the exam and I passed!! I got 392/500 giving me a cumulative score of 87%. Never, never give up on your dreams work hard, and study as much relevant info as you can, and you will do it. I studied old exams, Tufts, decks (spent more time looking at the Decks in the areas I waas weak in), kapln Q Bank, and I also was fortunate to find a study partner in thelast month or so here on SDN who lived 2 hrs from me and we helped each othe (this helpe so much) Thanks study partner! Having a great support group means the world, and I had the best ever in my husband.
congratulation and all best for you.
please can you tell me what exactly came in exam??
i want to know what is first day and what is 2nd day??
this is the first time to take the exam.
i took part 1 but i didn't pass i got 74% so i decided to take part 2 before part 1 and i am scared to fail again in part 2.
thanks allot .

th
Are there any pictures or X-rays on the first day of the exam for NBDE part 2?any help will be appreciated.Thanks.
yes there are few questions with x-rays on the first day...
im about to take nbde ii soon. i was wondering what i should be averaging on the old released exams? in some cases i have been getting 65%. is that good enough to pass?
thanks
I would say try to get at least 70-75% to be on the safe side. And it also depends on the year of the released exam.I could score up to 85% in years from 1978 to 91,but in the latest years (2000-2008) 70% was the maximum. However on the exam I managed to get about 73%.
Hi , im starting my nbde 2 prep again 🙁 coz i just got my results back and got 74% . Is anybody interested in group studying. Im in florida.
Not too shabby! That is great for all those who are passing. Please don't give up if you have trouble!

Thanks great advice. Im calm but worried, Im hours away Im taking it on Monday morning.I felt last min revision of MOSBY and papers specially 2000-2005 set is very helpful..Be calm and do it properly...U tend to get confused with the options in the exam alot..
Hey Blasphy... I really know how you feel and I am sooo sorry!!! I just got my results today and they arrived 2 weeks and 1 day after taking my exam. I FAILED with a 74! - 320/500. My exam was extremely difficult. I got one of those exams that was subjective and most of the questions were not in any of the study material. There isn't much we can do at this point. I am really annoyed that I failed, but I went into this exam knowing the material and I was well prepared. I seriously studied for 1.5 months and my performance on this exam would have been the same if I had studied for a week. We just have to take it again. I don't remember most of the questions from my exam since I had never seen the topics in any study material. Can you believe that tuft's pharm didn't even help me on the exam? the decks and Mosby's did help with certain topics, but it did not help for the majority of my exam. It was a total diaster. To be honest, I don't know where I could have studied from that would have the material that was on my exam.
Not sure about the audit. Honestly I don't think your score will change, but you can give it a try. It won't hurt you.
I would say try to get at least 70-75% to be on the safe side. And it also depends on the year of the released exam.I could score up to 85% in years from 1978 to 91,but in the latest years (2000-2008) 70% was the maximum. However on the exam I managed to get about 73%.
I am not sure if it will be enough to pass if you score 57%.The idea is not to just memorize the answers from the previous tests to score above 70% in them.Ideally you should be at a theoretical level when you can score above a certain percentage in any released test the very first time you do this test.Once again it is only my experience. After reading the mosby and the decks I was able to answer correctly from 75% to 85% in the old released papers.Second time I could score up to 95-100% in some easy tests. But this did not count as a result,it was just a pure memorizing. In 1998-2005 I scored 86%,and in the latest 2000-2008 only 70%.🙁 So, as you can see the result I received on the real test (73.4% and 81 composite score) confirmed rather accurately the level of my readiness as I could conclude from the latest released ASDA exam.I repeat, it was only my particular case.It may happen that in your exam 57% will be quite sufficient to pass the board. However I wouldn't risk to take the test just to see if it will work until I am at least 70%-75% in the latest ASDA test the very first time.I'm in the same boat 🙁 so I scored a 57% on 1998-2005..so you're saying retake it and make sure it's more than 70%..I'm so screwed
I made this mistake first time and I failedI am not sure if it will be enough to pass if you score 57%.The idea is not to just memorize the answers from the previous tests to score above 70% in them.Ideally you should be at a theoretical level when you can score above a certain percentage in any released test the very first time you do this test.Once again it is only my experience. After reading the mosby and the decks I was able to answer correctly from 75% to 85% in the old released papers.Second time I could score up to 95-100% in some easy tests. But this did not count as a result,it was just a pure memorizing..
Im going to try this,I have the 1998-2005, I have tendency of memorizing, its tough when you try to concentrate on the answer basis, than shooting for an answer right away and going to next question to answer if you are used to memorizing. However I wouldn't risk to take the test just to see if it will work until I am at least 70%-75% in the latest ASDA test the very first time.

I agree 100%, first section seem comprehensable but afternoon was just confusing and dissapointing.I just took day one. I have to say that I was disappointed to see very few old questions. I only got between 20 to 30. I stopped counting after my first half in which I only saw 10!
All I can say is that they test from EVERYTHING! Some questions were obvious and some were "am I supposed to know this?"
I wouldn't be able to point anything in specific. I hope I knew enough to pass![]()

I also took mine today. Didn't think it was too bad... There are definitely some repeats but not a lot. If you look at old exams going back to the 1980s you will see repeats from then too. I thought the exam was mostly fair if you were prepared...there was at least 1 question that I wanted to slap whoever wrote it...
wht kind of question was there for pharmacology? do i need to remember generic name for drug? do i need to refer tuft for pharmac? how was the implant questions? from where did you read that section?
Both drug names are given so as long as you know 1 you're ok. Tufts review was very helpful in pharm. I didn't study implants but my basic knowledge in them helped me answer all the implant questions. GL
Hello Bugab00 & Elsandro
How was your day2 exam???

Drove through 2 hours of snow for this lol...I thought the questions were fair. Some were tricky because one could argue for multiple tx plans. Ask 10 dentists how they'd tx plan a case and you'll get 11 different options...
The thing that really annoyed me was the radiographs. Some were beautiful, but some of the PAs were so small, with no way to make them bigger. Some of them were so bright all you could see was white and perhaps a tooth outline. It was silly. We pay $365, work out butts off, and can't even get a proper exam!
Do I think I passed? Yes. Do I think they need to improve some aspects of this exam? yes.
As far as the second day, you really don't need to study for it ( I didn't) since you learned this stuff in clinic.
GL to all![]()
Got my results yesterday- Christmas eve and I passed with an 80%. This was my third time taking part 2 and I didnt know what I would have done if I had to wait an entire year to retake this exam. For those that have failed this exam I know its tough but just try and stay positive and keep working hard.
does anyone know if there are histology slides on this exam?
