I'm not really up-to-date with the changes that are going to be made for Part I in the coming years, but what's your opinion on making the boards P/NP? At least for the next several years after the change, how will applicants who say get a 85 differentiate themselves from someone who received a P (before the "specialty exam" is made). I think the idea of making it p/np is a great idea but was just wondering about the downside it may fall on current dental students. Would receiving an even lower score like a 78 elimate your chances of getting into a specialty (as it normally would) as compared to another dental student who took it after the p/np change (and theoretically receives the same score) but gets a P? I'm particularly concerned for this since the only other option is GPA (aside from extracurrics) at the moment and my school is still in the process of establishing itself. Any insight would be appreciated.
