Hi,
I'm studying pathology from kaplan review, and reading decks!!! What do you recomend?

🙂 My exam is on sep 14, !!! the dont have seat for 15!!!

I solve biochemistry-phisiology asda, and Im gonna solve micro-pathology, Last time I take the exam I solve Anatomy I just have to review that again, What about You?
Pathology from kaplan is so specific but its make easy to understand the subjet, What did u study for pathology?

My exam is in September 14 . I am really stressed .But we can do it folks if you try hard , everything will be all right , just believe in yourself 👍

Im leaving Anat. for the end, as its the most part to be evaporated from my brain. can i skip kaplan anatomy ( very lengthy) and study it from 1st aid and aclands video plus anat.atlas ?

I don't think is necesary to do all subjet from Kaplan, I'm studying pathology, Last nigth I deside check first aid usmle and It has almost everything in a very short version, I m gonna skip kaplan in pathology and read this book,

hmm.. i have this book too, i check it out, last section organ systems, where it deals with all subjects all at one place for every seperate particular organ system.
this is really neat.👍

Today, I finished with micro-pathology, I was solving asda questions all day, Tomorrow I'm gonna start with Anatomy from kaplan and acland's videos....Any suggestion?

The book name is First aid usmle 1, Its good for review systems!!!

I am done with my part 1 exam. want to contribute some my experience in the exam as many of u helped me in solving the Qs.

I dont say the exam is tough, it is not easy though. All i can say it was "TRICKY".When i saw the Question,i thought its going to be easy but when i looked at the answers i was confused. u need to have a very thorough concept of what u are reading. Regarding the testlets, they are easy when u are able to diagnose the case well. otherthan that i didnt find any difficulty with those.Time is enough to solve all the Qs nd can go thru those u marked in doubt.

Sources i used:
First Aid full except Dental anatomy. For DA i used wheelers, okeson, Dental Board Busters. Biochem full kaplan review book + 1st aid. for pathology, physio nd anatomy few topics from kaplan review. for micro complete kaplan review nd 1st aid. ASDA papers, Lot of WIKing & Decks (Read decks compltely for 3 times.During the last revision 1 week before the exam i read decks which were not covered in my primary source like kaplan or 1st aid.Dont read the decks as it is going to be waste of time nd u cannot cover some vague topics) Rely on one primary source whether it can be kaplan or 1st aid or BRS.Try to make a strong foundation with that source. For certain topics which were not covered in ur primary source(this u will come to know when u are doing the Qs)u need to use additional books or wiki.but dont study a single topic from different books. because when ur exam is getting near u dont have time to revise all those. Make sure whether u are perfect with one concept. If u are, move on to next. If u are not, refer other sources. At the same time dont rely on a single book.

2 Days before my exam:
Brushing thru every topic nd my notes. I wish i would have time to revise DA in board busters which is very good.

Sources helped me in my exam:
First Aid cover to cover, wheelers, Board Busters for DA,doing Qs daily. dont try to memorize the answers but try to know about the other options too. that gives u a very good knowledge.

Based on my experience i want to suggest you guys to do as many Qs as u can.Plan to do atleast 100-200 Qs daily along with the concept on what the Q is about.

Try to learn with mnemonics. It doesnt count how much we studied but what counts is how much we remembered.

i thank teethie, pb2007, bratdoc nd all others who helped me.

If anyone need any help (otherthan remembered Qs) regarding ur preparation, i can help you.waiting for my score to come. lets see what god has decided for me.
GOOD LUCK guys.

the post above is very good... for an additional opinion listed in order of what i thought was most helpful

biochem: 1) kaplan lecture notes 2) decks 3) USMLE 1st aid

micro: 1) clinical microbiology made ridiculously simple 2) decks 3) NBDE 1st aid

anatomy: 1) netters head & neck anatomy for dentistry 2) NBDE 1st aid

dental anatomy: 1) decks 2) board busters

physiology: 1) USMLE 1st aid 2) NBDE 1st aid

histology: 1) NBDE 1st aid 2) kaplan lecture notes 3) decks

pathology:
1) decks 2) board busters 3) NBDE 1st aid

i did only 1 ASDA released exam (before i started to study) and it scared me. i never did a single one after that, because i thought it would make me focus only on certain concepts, when there really is only like 1-2 repeats on the real exam. i was scared that it would make me focus too much on particular subjects, so i didn't use them.

i read decks a total of 2x: 1st time i read through them very very slowly. 2nd time i read through them was 1 week before my exam. this was helpful and a very nice quick rapid review. you can do very very well on the exam with the decks alone. there was not anything i found in other sources that was not really covered in the decks.

i avoided wiki because often there are errors (as it is a collective, voluntary source) so i used book references as much as possible. i used the kaplan lecture notes mostly as reference. i did not like the organization and did not use it as a "read through." just used it for reference only (and only 2 subjects). it really wasn't worth buying and there are lots of errors.

the day before my exam i quickly reviewed the NBDE 1st aid as it's a nice summary of everything you learned. it's not very detailed, so it's great for a rapid review.

the test itself is not bad. i found that the easiest questions were the testlets, and the hardest questions were the physiology & biochemistry questions (for me anyway).

during the exam i found:
50% you will know right away, don't even need to think about it really
25% you can figure out based off everything you learn
25% you have never seen anywhere before & it's a complete guess

everyone is capable of passing if they put in the work. just be sure to study however you normally study. if you've never used flashcards, the decks probably won't be that helpful for you (use boards busters which is like the decks but in book format). if you like charts, look into the netter's head and neck anatomy for dentistry & the kaplan dentessentals book. if you want something very detailed with every explanation imaginable, maybe use the kaplan lecture notes (though there are lots of errors so be careful).

you can do well with decks alone. but if you want to get above a 90, i would suggest using your dental school textbooks as additional references. everyone is capable of doing well if they put in the time & effort. some people also have "bad-testing days" so don't be bummed if you didn't do as well as you hoped. remember what this test is REALLY for... it's really to determine if you're capable enough of practicing dentistry. so for people that just care about SCORES, you might want to look into the bigger picture, as something else is a little more important than your score. so what you learn out of this stressful studying process is much more important than the score you receive on a piece of paper. always keep that in mind... & enjoy yourself while studying 🙂

Just came from pro metric . It wasn't bad overall , first 200 questions were pretty easy , the second 200 were pretty tough . Good luck to everyone! Waiting for the score

Hi
so was the exam tougher than or similar to the asda papers?
the first 200 questions as you said were easy.. were they like ASDA?
and the last 200 questions were tough you said... tougher than ASDA?

All the best for your result!! 👍

I would say if know your basics , than you will be fine just repeat well decks and Asda papers , scenarios were easy to solve . For the second 200 questions weren't straight and forward, just took me a long time to solve.

50% you will do right away , 25% you should figure out, 25 % complete guess. I agree with this one

I want to know that during the preparation, when you started doing questions after reviewing the theory what percent of correct answers (random idea)you got for the first time....like i am doing questions but not getting good score so - worried.any body has any advice....thanks in advance..

Decks knowledge 100%,plus q bank and I ws getting up 80 with crack nbde
My main reason for failing , I changed my answers . Please don't change your answers

Im so sorry about it...
But you know,it's better i think to fail and retake it again later, than get 75 for ex,and pass...But that's for intern.students.Don't know if it works for you.
I have my exam in 3 days.
What was your raw score on crack?
Coz i got on crack 91,but still around 100 mistakes...
