I just got back from the Philadelphia APMSA meeting and there is something I wanted to pass on.
During our meeting with the NBPME they discussed some changes that they would be making to part II of the NBPME. According to the NBMPE, after an external audit of their tests, they determined that the test (part II) should include questions with multiple right answers. So they have decided to implement that starting in 2008.
What this means is that during our Part II test in March you will come across questions that have multiple correct answers, so instead of answering just "A" for example the answer would be "A & C" or "A, C & D" if you don't fill in all the correct answers you'll get the question wrong.
The NBPME informed me that the questions requiring multiple correct responses will be clearly labeled as such (but they won't indicate how many are correct-obviously).
Just thought you should know so that you can prepare for this new change.

From the email we got via our 09 delegate, these are some of the considerations/changes for pt1 in the future:

-better enforcement of registration deadlines and better contact with schools about number of test takers to prevent overregistration and shortage of testing seats, non-uniform exam times, etc
-students will have opportunity to rate the test and type in comments/concerns right after the exam
-beginning tutorial will be revised to explain things more clearly, esp that students will still not be able to go back on the exam questions
-new question formats will be seen (reportedly K-type like The Stone posted about)

...I didn't hear anything about a physical exam portion. What do you mean? Are you talking about physical exam as in a H&P... or as in a physical dexterity test like the dental and medical admissions tests in some other countries have? I've heard that the Canadian DAT equivalent has a part where you carve a pattern on fragile chalk block or something and are rated on it. Some people who break their block fail and bust into tears. That'd be kinda crazy, but I'd be all for it. I played a lotta video games as a kid and have good hand eye coordination 😀.
