Has anyone heard anything from NCSU CVM? Any new e-mails?
I haven't seen a thread on any updates for this school- any news would be great!

Letters concerning out of state students should be sent out by the 31st of January. This is what the website indicates, I'm not sure about in state students.

Im from NC so I have to wait foooorrrreeevvvveeerrr to hear anything back from them. Im just lucky the vet clinic i work for is pretty busy so I am too busy running around like a chicken with my head cut off all day to think about it too much. But then I get home... now that I've started hearing from other schools its only made it worse. I have started checking my email like 30 times a day 😎

For all IS NCSU applicants, I applied last year as an IS and got an email that they received my info (as ya'll did) and then did not hear anything until March and it was an accectance letter/package. However, the year before, I received a rejection letter and it was A LOT earlier. So, from my past experience, the longer that you don't hear anything from them, the better. Because they do not do interviews, you will hear from them a lot later. Good luck to all!

and to the OOS applicants...have you seen the stats for this year? 523 applicants - that's almost double previous years! luckily us IS is about the same as before...but good luck OOS guys!!

Wow. That's a lot of OOS applicants. Doesn't make me feel so good 🙁 I'm guessing the acceptances/rejections will be a little delayed compared to last year if they have so many more people to evaluate. Ugh and I was really hoping today would be the day.

My guess is that it's because they removed the business requirement starting this year.

I received my rejection (IS) last year after the admissions letters were sent out. I received it via in mid- to late- March. The folks that were offered positions heard about a week before I did.

Get ready for a long few months if you're in state!

We just started back this week, and it is a chaotic time for our admin (financial aid stuff, some students had family tragedies over the break, and getting all the other general elective/selective/beginning of semeter stuff straightened out.) I wish you all luck and hope to see you next year!

For the IS folks...it seems like an achingly long time....and last year they were sent out before a weekend, meaning that some received it on Saturday and some not till after the weekend. Argh!

Not real specific, but 2 semesters of business/finance classes. I took micro- and macroeconomics to fulfill mine! Which worked out b/c it also fulfilled my social science requirement for my BS.

Yeah, general business; Econ, accounting, management, business communications, etc.

But they dropped the requirement for the next class because they also require us to attend a 2 week selective on business.

From last year's acceptance thread it looks like all OOSers who were offered a spot were called. I'm not sure about the rejections though...

To be entirely honest, I'm just glad I'm an OOSer at this point, haha...I'm already done with my interview for my IS school, and thus have 2 months of waiting for it...sigh...

So I'm just glad I'll be hearing something by the end of this month 🙄

Eeep! I keep promising myself not to get "sold" on a school so that rejection won't feel so bad...but there's so much about NC State that I love. Whenever I start thinking about the school, I try to convince myself that there's no way I was accepted. If I go in with a realistic/pragmatic/pessimistic view, I can only go up from there if I get a (highly unlikely) acceptance!

I am 95% sure that I would choose NC State (or Missouri) over Penn purely from a financial standpoint. The difference in cost for Penn's IS tuition and NC State's OOS tuition after gaining residency is on the order of $50,000 (give or take a few thousand). That money is the downpayment on my first house, a new car, supporting my future kids, etc. Money and chance of acceptance were the two factors that really shaped my list of schools to apply to. I am 110% dedicated to this field, but the debt scares the living daylights out of me!

GellaBella, I believe you can not change...unless married to a resident or one of those other crazy restrictions.

I think it's Florida that changed that ability this year - they're grandfathering it in and allowing the class that applied under that condition to still obtain residency. And NC State definitely does allow it. You have to be sure and get everything completed and filed the summer before you start (to allow the 1 year period to take effect) but it can be done without marriage: http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=691823&highlight=tuition

One of the benefits of attending NCSU is free legal cousel, including counsel to become a legal resident, enabling a studen to obtain IS funding after the first year. At least, that is what has happened in the past and for the class of 2013

The only 'issues' that I have heard are students who didn't start the change of residency stuff (ie driver's licence, car registration) immediatly during orientation. If I came from OOS, I would do that even before classes, then legal will walk you through everything else. Plan on spending the first summer IS (don't know if it is absolutly required)
