I am taking Part 1 June 2nd week. Have just started my preps. doing decks..I think 1 & 1/2 months is more than enough even if your basics is not strong. it cant be that tough. lets do it together!

sure i think serious prep can make it!!!!!!!!!
well what all study material r u refering?

count me in, I am too starting out and I only have the decks and the papers. Did have a look at the kaplan reviewbook it is too detailed.
pls give your inputs

hi scha2005, prets,

Im starting out with 80 decks per day. 20 each subject. (2001 decks)..that way i will be doing all subjects everyday and not panic thinking i havent touched a particular subject.

We cannot even attempt to solve the ques papers if dont finish the decks. I have tried and gave that up. my basics needs a little brushing up. im sure by the time we finish decks, we will be confident enough to attempt solving papers.

books im using for reference

Anat - Chaurasia head and neck, other topics Kaplan
Oral Hist - Orbans
Embryology - 'the developing human' saunders
Physio - Gyton
Biochem - Lippincott
Micro - Murray
Path - Robbins
Dental Anat - Wheelers, Kaplan

Good luck everyone...and do share your study tips...

this thread is for all those who r planning to take exam in mear future
im doing anatomy these days
books im refering r
my text books chaurasia 's
n decs n kaplan
kaplan r too much in detail no doubt n ppl dont have even very good reviews about them too but still im doing it n refering to texts for some topics
i'll do q papers once im done withg the theory
well does any of u knw about the pilot papers?
or any recent q papers in the market?

count me in giving exam on 15 june.just started with physio . hope to finish course by may end and do questions in last 10 days . doing decks too with kaplan review but not thewhole thing just little bit as it is too detailed. my suggestion have a look at question papers then have an idea how the questions are then see how much in depth they r asking.
do the Q bank it is good has 1000 questions . in all subjects

hi
i was jsut wondering if all those who have taken the exam n can post their experiences ....it would b good fro all those who r about to take the exam
plus i would appreciate if all those who have taken exam earlier can post the questions n topics which r important ,difficult n mostly asked
well im going to initiate with what all i have gathered n think that's imp n useful
starting with anatomy ..........
hope others too can contribute in this
well i'll start tomorrrow with anatomy
any questions ,queries r welcome

ok let me start with first topic
arteries
this is very imp n as far as i knw everytime 2-3 questiions are always there in test paper regarding that
[correct me where im wrong]
* external carotid artery
ex
which artery [branch of ECA ]does nt pass through the carotid triangle of neck?
as far as i knw its posterior auricular artery
it arises from post aspect of ECA just above posterior belly of digastric
[i saw someone posted ans as occipital artery i think that's wrong coz that does pass thr the carotid triangle

*can any one tell me
does maxillary artery terminates as the sphenopalatien artery?

*internal thoracic artery -branch of 1st part of subclavian artery
inferior thyroid artery branch of thyrocervical trunk [which is a branch of subclavian artery]
very freq asked quest
i'll mail some more quest later
i would appreciate if i get more n more students involved with their questions ,doubts or topics which r covered very freq in exam i :luck:

good job keep it up. i am finished with physio now and patho finishing soon will put anatomy tips when i am done with it. when u start physio and patho questions on post then definately i will give u my input .is that fine

maxillary artery
has 3 parts
1. mandibular part lies medial to mandible and gives branches
middle meningeal
inf alveolar
ant tympanic
deep auricular
2. ptreygoid part crosses lat pterygoid muscle and gives off muscular branches
deep temporal
massetter
pterygoid
buccal
3.Sphenopalatine part lies medial to lat pterygoid and terminates into
sphenopalatine which spplies to palate
infraorbital supplies inferior orbit and face
so maxillary artery terminates in sphenopalatine and infraorbital

Dear friends,
I just joined to this forum .I registered for June 21st. I don't have time to finish microbiology, biochemistry and pathology. Is it ok to just review dental deck for the exam? Is there anyone who took the exam recently? Are there any repeated questions in the exams?

Thanks

well as far as i knw its not enough if u really need to score good in exam
i would say u still have enough of time to study for exam n do things in more detail
its not that decs r not enough just u need to be thorogh with the basics that's what matters
ieven im taking the exam 1st time but this is what everyone says
idear we all are in same boat so dont worry just study

i totally agree that u have to be prepared in ur basics does not matter from decks or where. as long as u do decks and then go back in textbooks that is good. also depends on how ur basics r. if u r good then that is fine. see decks only cover a few topics say in CVS or respiratory. say a question comes from other that what is in decks u cant answer for sure. but if ur basics r clear then u will be able to answer anything. if u feel the need to postpone by 2 weeks or so but if it makes ur prep really good that is what matters .as good score is important.
good luck . i thought of giving in may end but felt not prepared so postponed by 2 weeks . but now my basics r becoming clear and i know i will be able to do better. with decks i would read a question and my tendency to flip over and read the answer as my basics were not clear earlier. now i solve the deck and then look at the back of deck if my answer is right.
hope it helps
good luck
