I have about 8 weeks before taking DAT.

I took orgo this summer.

It was fast, and it didn't cover much.

I tried 5sets practice test from kaplan and never got over 20 problems

over total 30 problems.

According to my friends who are going to dental school now, they just

memorized all reactions.

What should I do?

what else are you using? did u get destroyer the questions and roadmaps are priceless you have 8 weeks so even if you don't have it you have enough time to go thru it provided you get it soon......almost everyone says its a must so i'd say along with kaplan review destroyer would help you make sure you know the chracteristics of sn1 sn2 e1 e2 make sure you know rxns and characteristics all this is covered in destroyer so get on it!

i have to agree with azar, the roadmaps in destroyer are awesome! i really used that as my main source of information for the organic section, otherwise i would check out the exam krackerz books in a local barnes & noble or something. good luck.

I don't think you should rely on destroyer roadmaps. youll never understand about why reactions occur with acidic hydrogens, why alpha beta reactions occur, etc. i had a few 2+ part reactions on the orgo section of my exam and the answer wasn't black and white. if you wan't to do very well, you should crack open a orgo book and read it. i read my orgo textbook many times over (took like a week, and each subsequent read took like 1 day) and i got a perfect orgo score. knowing WHY certain reactions work actually makes it easier for you later on. most of the reactions for carboxylic acid derivatives, esters, anhydrides, sufides, etc are almost identical. even if you dont know the answer on the real exam, the answer choices they give you are diverse enough that you can figure out the right answer if you just sit for a second and think. you can't do this if you just memorize the roadmaps.
