I am halfway through my first semester at UTDallas as a postbac. I am surprisingly doing well in my classes, even though I am only taking three (Gen Chem, Bio II, and College Algebra). The reason I am taking Bio II is because Bio I requires you to have taken Gen Chem, while Bio II has no prereqs. However, I am miserable socially. I don't know anyone in Dallas and am pretty lonely, and I don't think my situation is really going to change. Most of my friends are in NYC and Boston, as I went to school in New York, and they all want me to move back up there. I also really want to, because I feel like I could not go on like this for much longer. The only bad thing, though, is that it is an awkward time to transfer, because I will be in the middle of Gen Chem. How does that work....can you take the two semesters of gen chem at different schools? I am also wondering about people's opinions of diff. programs. I am considering Harvard Extension School and Columbia. I can't go to NYU bc they don't accept transfers. I was also wondering what everyone thought about Hunter College. Would it's tuition be pretty cheap compared to Columbia...or is it only cheap for New York state residents?

I also looked at Harvard's course offerings, and they don't seem to offer Physics I in the spring. What courses would you recommend I take in the spring? I want to take as many as possible.

So this post is a little scattered, but I guess what I am asking is:

1.) Can I actually transfer and continue with the second semester of Gen Chem at a different school, and will med schools be ok with my 2 semesters of chem at different schools?
2.)What does everyone think about Columbia, Harvard, and Hunter comparatively considering their cost and other factors such as professors and difficulty level? Are there any other programs in NYC or Boston or in the northeast that you would recommend for me?
3.) Does any school offer the first semester of Physics in the spring? What courses should I be looking to take in the spring? Do I need to have taken Calculus to take Physics?
4.) Is Calculus a requirement, or can you take Statistics instead (my advisor told me that I could take statistics, but I am not sure if that is only for certain Texas med. schools). And do you have to take Pre-calculus before you take Calculus...would you recommend it?
5.) Would you recommend me transferring at this stage or should I wait it out another semester because of Gen Chem?

Any opinions? I think my post was a little too long and I rambled too much, but the main question I guess is, it is a good idea to transfer in the spring semester considering my situation (having already taken a semester of Gen Chem 1)? Or would it be better to wait until the fall? And, what program would you recommend, Harvard or Hunter?
