Need advice on MD/MBA... when to do and what residencies offer?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I'm a mid career faculty and I'm not even convinced an MBA would be useful to me if I transition to leadership, unless I wanted to go to the penthouse and push paper all day.

...I notice some of the medical school faculty and prominent institutional staff seem to have the MD / MBA, as well...

Don't confuse "having" both degrees with having gotten it as a "dual degree". That's the big distinction being made in this thread, and it's an important one. There might be completely valid reasons for getting an MBA LATER, if you need it and once you have the skills to build on. Executive MBAs are designed for this. But that's VERY different than getting it as a dual degree, and the career trajectories can be very different. Are you sure these "prominent institutional staff" actually got them as dual degrees? Because I'd bet not.
