Hey everyone,

Well I took the DAT and performed okay 21AA 22 PAT.
Has anyone had experience in this? Who do I call and talk to? dean, sec, adcoms??

I have tried to call a couple schools but I know that they don't even take note of my call, I get the "okay just send us the new scores in Oct."

I applied to 15 schools (WV,VCU, creigt, Louis, Nova, az, case, UNLV, Marq, temp, BU,Tufts, Upenn, NYU, and USC)

my stats:
21AA 22 PAT ,bachelor degree, GPA 3.7, BCP 3.6, my last 2 years 3.8, great LOR's and experience.

Take it again, and make sure you do better. The schools won't care that you are taking it again, until they see your new scores. Hopefully they will hold on to your application long enough to see your new scores. Isn't the deadline for a few schools in October anyway? (at least for secondary applications)

Before you take it again, I suggest seriously reconsider, reflect, assess, understand what THE FREAKING HECK HAPPENED? 22 on PAT is an awesome score that is way higher than what I've seen around, but that 16 on AA is miserable. This is definitely not the end of the world, because an improvement on your AA is ABSOLUTELY DOABLE. So good luck, pick yourself up from the ground, give yourself a break, and do this again!

Hello Titan3035,

First of all don't panic!!
You have done really well on your PAT. The 16AA is not as miserable as you might think. You are average, but to be safe try to hit 18's. If you have a first choice school, email the admissions officers and ask them about your scores. They like to see that you want to go to their school. If they say, too low, or if you have time to retake it, I would if I were you. Ask them what your chances are of getting in with your scores now and go from there... You have nothing to lose retaking the DAT's..perhaps 4h of your life which is worth it. According to my own experiences, persistance is what counts the most..keep trying..also don't forget that there are some clowns out there who have scored 20's and fail out of dental school because they are not serious (so who cares about these 20's)..and others who got 15's and are doing excellent right now...in the long run these scores don't mean anything..it's the key to get in..who survives is the one who has strong work ethics and works hard every day while in dental school..if you truly want to get in you will..it's matter of time. You are very close.
Good luck.

1. schools don't give a rats ass about the pat score. if they say they do, they are lying.
2. an aa of 16 is fine as long as your gpa is good enough.

16 DAT and 3.19 Overall GPA don't look too good. The best you can you is wait-listed.
There's still time for a retake.

what did you have to do to get in?! congrats! nicely done, keep up the good work!

I dont think 16AA is tooo bad. Just like someone had mentioned earlier, that's just an average score. I know there are certain schools out there that definitely value PAT more than any other score....provided you do decent on each section. I think you have enough points to get you a few interviews.
