I am a first time SDN user. I have been reading posts for the past few days and have found them to be very helpful. I would really appreciate any advice/opinions on my chances of getting an interview! I have very average/below average stats 🙁 here they are...

oGPA-3.43
sGPA-3.38
BCP-3.24..yikes, I know

I took the DAT two times, I was very disappointed when my DAT scores simply flip-flopped the second time I took them rather than an overall improvement.

1st time:
PAT-14...awful
QR-16
RC-23
Bio-16
GC-18
OChem-20
TS-18
AA-19
2nd time:
PAT-17
QR-17
RC-19
Bio-20
GC-16
Ochem-16
TS-17
AA-18

I have shadowed three dentists, and I also shadow/train at a dental lab. I have about 150 hours of shadowing. I volunteer at a clinic and humane society every week. I volunteered as a volleyball coach a few months ago. I am a WI resident. I applied to 12 schools...U of MN, Marquette, LECOM, Howard, Tufts, Temple, Midwestern-AZ, Boston, VCU, NYU, Michigan, Louisville. So what do you guys think??

Hi there! I think you might to retake your DAT one last time because your previous scores flip-flopped. The good thing is that you met the minimum requirement of at 17 on your second DAT! Assuming that your LORs are very strong, I think you have a chance. If you applied in June/July, then it's possible that you will get a pre-Dec interview. If you applied this month, you might get a post-Dec interview. 🙂

Will be tough to land interviews with those DAT's. With a 20 AA and 20 TS you would be good to go.

Those grades aren't bad though. Not spectacular (e.g. 3.7 to 4.0) but not necessarily the kiss of death. AND it seems like the prevailing thought on this web forum is that GPA > DAT (the degree to how much that relationship hold is up to debate).

I would say, based on doc_toothatche's range excel sheet that you may have a shot at some of those schools you listed.

Good luck on your third retake, that's all you really need!

Wouldn't it be too late to retake my DAT for this application cycle? I would love to retake, I just don't know if it will do me any good for this cycle. I took my DAT July 30, so the earliest I could retake would be late October. Should I just wait this cycle out and see what happens and then if I don't get in then retake?

Do this. ^^^^

+1....yes and btw most schools look at the exam that has the highest AA. So hopefully they will look at your first attempt, but give you credit for PAT on the second attempt.

Just apply this cycle and if you don't get in, retake the DAT.
