Hey guys,
I just need some advice regarding a bad grade this semester.
I am a non-trad student working full time with a family. I started my post bacc 2 years ago and I applied for this cycle. I was able to get atleast an A- in all the prereqs except Biochemistry. Unfortunately I got a D this past semester and I am really nervous about it. I worked so hard to get A's in so many science classes even Organic 1 & 2. And I got a 20 AA on the DAT. I'm not trying to make excuses but I felt my biochemistry class was taught horribly.
I plan to take Genetics, A&P 2 and Physics 2 this spring. And retake biochemistry next fall if need be.
Do you guys think this is something that could really hurt my chances for even next year?
I'm hoping a 4.0 spring semester with 3 sciences can provide biochem was an outlier for me.
Thanks!

Do you have to reapply? Now news from any school you applied to so far?

I applied this cycle. I had an interview at my top choice school, but got waitlisted. Due to taking my DAT late in the summer my apps weren't sent out until mid-September so I'm hoping I'm still in the running for some post-December interviews. I due plan to reapply in June if I don't receive an acceptance.

If you could take biochem in the spring and get a good score in it, it will be the best IMO.
Don't lose hope yet...Waiting lists exist for a reason...

I would advise you to retake the course. You will likely still get interviews. When you are asked about the grade at your interview, try harder to not make excuses, like how the class was taught. Figure out where you went wrong, take the class again and ace it. Then you can say how you realized YOU were deficient and discovered a way to overcome. Good luck.

I think that is exactly what I'm going to do. Thank you!
