Hello, I am a student who has just graduated with a bs in biology. My gpa is extremely poor, and my mcat is poor. I have made many mistakes in undergraduate and i am now paying for it. Many advisors and my parents have told me to abandon my hopes of getting into medical school, but this is what i want to do. I will do anything and work as hard as I can to get there. Anyways, I just need advice on what the best course of action is now as far as what I should do next. Is it grad school, should i take more undergrad classes, if anyone has any clue, i could really use the guidance. Thank you.

what is your GPA? i would try applying to caribbean schools... a few of them are VERY good. my brother is going to one of them. if you are determined and focussed, you can succeed using this route. good luck! 🙂

Without knowing your specifics, no one can give you any advice. There are many possible directions people take, and no single remedy works equally well in all cases.

Well, since your MCAT is low, one of the best things you can do is start studying NOW and retake the MCAT. Take a class if you have to. I'm one of those people who needs structure when it comes to studying, so i took the Princeton Review and it helped a lot with strategy and practice and things.

In terms of your GPA, you're a biology major... so that means you probably have a LOT of undergrad science credits. If you took the pre reqs and did well in those, maybe going the grad school/post bac route would be a good idea. If you didn't do well in the pre-reqs (orgo, physics, gen chem), I'd say you should retake those. But like the previous posters have said, it's hard to give you advice when we don't know your specifics.

Good luck to you!
