Need an advice from students in UPitt

I am fortunate to be accepted by UPitt to its 2016 class. Recently I am trying to get flight tickets to my hometown in summer and to Pittsburgh before the start of the classes. Ms. Mangold mentioned in the email that the orientation is gonna be tentatively on June6~8, but I cannot get a academic calender for the coming Fall semester online, so I am still not sure about the start date of classes.
Q1) Since the price of the flight ticket varies greatly before and after June 9 (>$350), does anybody know when can I know the exact date of the orientation? and how important it is to attend it ?
Q2) I want to spare sometime before the start of class for finding an apartment to stay in the coming four years, can anybody inform me about the start date of classes? (It was around august 27 last year, but do I have to be there some days earlier for registration and stuffs?)

I heard the 7th and 8th (from a D1), which is a Thu and Fri. Maybe book your trip for the 9th too, since a Saturday orientation doesn't seem out of the question.

Thanks! I have just got an email from Mrs. Mangold :
."The Orientation is June 7-8. The entire class is expected to be here. We will tackle many issues, primarily meeting classmates, finding housing, and meeting with OIS. The ACADEMIC orientation is Aug. 20-24. This is mandatory for all first year students. Classes begin on Monday, Aug. 30, and the White Coat Ceremony is done on that day. .
.I am looking forward to seeing the class together for the first time on June 7."
