Seems like waiting a year would be best for both your chances and your stress level.
...
Agreed. This isn't a race; you apply when all your ducks are in a row and not before. If that means spending a year doing research or earning money or enhancing your ECs, then so be it. Many people are going to be a couple of years out of college in med school so you won't stand out by doing this. Just find something interesting to do during the off year. As mentioned, your GPA is fine so postbac probably doesn't make sense -- you only do postbac if (1) you don't have the sciences yet, or (2) you need to enhance your GPA, BCPM or otherwise prove you have an aptitude for sciences that you didn't yet show in undergrad. You don't do it to kill a year- It won't make you any more competitive for this purpose.
For a moment there I thought you were LizzyMI know studying abroad can be expensive, but if you have the means to do it, it would be a great opportunity. Sometimes it is tougher for science majors to go abroad (for some reason, organic chem and bio don't seemed to be offered as much in Europe/etc. as foreign languages and French literature 😉), but it seems like you have the majority of your pre-med reqs and bio major requirements completed. You might be able to add a minor, pick up a language, or work on a service project in another country all things that could be useful on your applications. Best of luck!
Ha, I hope that's not a bad thing! Apparently we are both very big fans of Sue Sylvester.
